Inspired by the "Trivia" section of any film listed on the IMDb (The International Movie Database), where there's the occasional listing of a director's trademark. For example: Tim Burton's movies usually have an eye-popping scene ( ), Spielberg always uses John Williams' scores, etc.

As a Lit author, what are your trademarks?

Here are the special touches that I've put on my erotic stories so far:

With the exception of my latest (pending) Valentine's entry and another that I've scrapped, all of my male protagonists are redheads.

All of my heroines are brunettes.

I use a good amount of teasing between the main characters before they finally have sex (intercourse).

Brown eyes for the main characters, either light or dark.

There's always some form of oral sex and/or genital massage.

Spoiler alert: In "Another Lonely Christmas," when Vivian reads her tombstone in the graveyard, I used my actual birthday. :nana:

Also in ALC, the character of Tobias was based on my boyfriend.

The big speech given by Vivian's mom early in the story was based on my mom's real comments to me.

In "Be Mine," I named my heroine after my boyfriend's mother, Maria. :rose:

Both ALC and "An Erotic Bouquet" (pending) feature a character named Chris. Christopher was the middle name of my first big crush.

All of my stories are lesbian.

The name I use most is Jessica. (My favorite name)

In most stories there is an asian girl. (Asian women are always so exoticly beautiful to me.)

With one exception, all of my female protags are dark: dark-haired, dark-eyed.

Water figures prominently in most of my stories (rain, the ocean, a lake, etc.)

I use minimum description of my characters - very little beyond "dark" or "tall."

Trivia: there's a masturbation scene in one of my stories that Vella actually wrote for me. :D

"Sherry Hawk" is me - but most already knew that.

LOL

Only 75% of the time do the characters in my stories have intercouse in a chapter. The other 25% missed out. If wasn't getting any, neither were they.

I have 2 member names on Lit. Only 1 person has picked up that I am one and the same by reading both my stories.

None of my male characters are red or blonde. I think they are all tall with black hair. it is my fantasy.

I don't deal with reality. Pick up a newspaper.

I've never finished a story yet.

Trying pretty hard to avoid trademarks.

However,

My male protagonists are almost always tall, thin, and bearded.

Most commonly, the female protagonist is a redhead. Sometimes brunette. Only twice have I used a blonde. And only once your standard yellow blonde. The other was close to platinum.

With one exception, all my stories have a strong romantic undertone to them. Even my BDSM and short pieces of smut.

I can't seem to break myself of the habit of using the phrase 'as always' in my writing.

Oh yes. And I'm a wordy bastard. :D

I usually have a redheaded character, male or female. I have a well-known fetish for redheads (and at the moment, I am one myself.) Love that contrast between deep red hair and pale skin smattered with freckles.

My stories always have a happy ending.

Other than that, I think my trademarks are more style-related, turns of a phrase and details that always creep in because they're important to me. My annoying flaws (such as use of the terrible, awful phrase "all the sudden") are nothing a good editor can't fix.

geeze, i dont think i have any. well, except humor. i like to use it liberally...even my serious stories are funny. erm... maybe my writing is just a big joke. *shrug* i have fun doing it and thats all that mattahs.

oh and cloudy...
*yum*

i've only writen one story (finished would be better word) so far, no trade marks as except that the married couples i use all love each other.

Green eyes. The women protags in my stories have Green Eyes.
If not green then blue, crystal blue.

The men are always self assured and confident.

"Vivian Ward" is me for the most part; she was my heroine for NaNo and she's the only character I've written that's so closely based on me.

While I was never abused by my father (physically) the way Vivian was in her ALC flashback, I used my real-life memories of growing up in his household to create the tension and atmosphere of domestic violence the best I could.

Slight to nonexistant physical descriptions of characters.

Socially transgressive relationships.

"Not enough sex."

Sporadic attempts at literature.

I love that about your stories. I often have to kick myself and remember not to be so damned grimly serious about everything. Your humor is a charm and eternal delight - so lightly handled, so gentle and innocently fun, so easy and effortless in its effect. I'd envy you if you weren't far too adorable for any such uncharitable emotion.

My name is Jessica and i am a lesbian :D

How is that for an opening line although it sounds like DA Dykes anonymous

Well I seem to use a lot of cowboys...and horses...and my characters are generally very ordinary people...

Off the top of my head I can't think of any...I'll bet someone could point some out.

I usually have at least one character that knows something the other doesn't though...not always a planned thing, but often comes into play to spark the final scene and or end the story with a flair...does that count or is that simply called having some plot?

According to neonlyte, I am the first author to feature dandruff on Literotica. (Candice)
