Australia Trolls

First, News Limited is not the most respected newspaper in Australia, let alone the world.

Second, whatever they describe (to the extent that it is true) would apply world-wide.

Remember, newspapers by their nature describe things which are unusual. You won't see an article that 99.9% of Australians are not trolls.

Oh I know. And most Americans, or Brits, or whatever, are not trolls either. And perhaps these are extreme versions of trolls. But still, these people seem like borderline sociopaths, and that's disturbing even though this focused on only three people. Scarier still is that the woman in the article has a daughter.

I've often thought recently that if psychologists wanted to work out what makes sociopaths tick, they just have to round up a few Internet trolls and ask them a few questions. Including those people who play online games purely to get their thrills from being as annoying as possible.

For example, on multi-player servers where you can do PvP (player vs player) some players get their kicks from "killing" much lower level players. There is no skill involved, they would use a level 60 (say) to kill a level 10 character, instantly. And then sit around waiting for them to resurrect and kill them again. And again. For what purpose, it's hard to say. When challenged some say they do it "because they can" or "someone did it to them once". Plenty of fodder there for working through their psychoses, IMHO.

I'm talking world-wide here, nothing to do with a particular country.

I always thought it was funny when the psychologists came to the AH to study us. Haven't had one that I know of in a while but it's a new school year coming up. :D
