Sat Nav??? Not likely! The ex was showing off his, with the bedroom voice to purr instructions. I say Man Up and get a map! :D

I looooooooooooove my life in the country! :) I get my city jaunts that remind me exactly why I live where I do. Mind you, we have our own hazards. Kamakaze wombats, roos that jump on cars, possums that start to party at 2am and when you finally get to sleep Kookaburras and Maggies bugling at dawn! Don't want to change it, though.

Just came back from Canberra. Had another meal at that Korean Sushi place. OMG, it's good.

Oh, and the worst thing about a country town? I want chocolate AND EVERYTHING IS CLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong I like the city just not when everyone is in places I want to be. The weekends are a good time to explore without the crowds. Most suburbs in Melbourne now have possums. You can see them walking or running across the power lines in the early hours of the morning especially at this time of year. They must get confused why humans are up and about in the dark. I occasionally hear them on the roof. As for birds, well I have lots of them in the area. Its a rather quiet neighbourhood so sound travels a long way.

I actually found two new chocolate shops in the city these past few weeks whilst doing other things. They seem to be popping up everywhere.

Yes things do close early in country towns, especially if you want a meal. The only place open is Macca's and if you're starving then its the only choice. Those little snacks you buy on road trips aren't enough.

Good morning!

Woken up to fog in the valley... thick, so it feels like we are the only house for miles!
Bonfire day here. I have a mountain of green waste and cutting from the garden that need to be disposed of and they are predicting light winds and rain later, so today is a good day to fire up.
Not much else on apart from that....

You should write adds for the North..."You'll never never know its a shithole till you go" Just put a pic of your bum on the poster and I guarantee they won't read the words...

I should have said 'expensive shithole'!
Ever paid $9 for a lettuce?

Morning WQ,

No fog here and no chance of me seeing a valley but we do have grey skies so I'm guess some rain is coming from somewhere. Not that cold though.

live in the middle of a suburbia such as it is here miss the fog thinking you are a alone in the bush having a camp fire
missing everything at the moment
life sucks at the minute

A little rain would be nice here... then we'd warm up a bit!
Thank goodness we have loads of firewood :)

Nope never done that, then again I usually get mine in a bag these days since a whole one usually goes off before I finish it. Yep I am paying more for the leaves but then I don't waste as much.

The down side to the high pay check is that its only available in those areas and most can't afford to buy a house. Kinda the same for a couple of hundred years.

You ok?
We might be a bunch of strangers, but we're here to listen if you need to offload

In those areas, you can't afford to rent anymore either!
Last I heard, it was around $2000/week for a 3-bed unit!

Hey, Ginge!

Worked really late last night and got a hell of a fright! Something was scratching and gnawing in the corner. So I scarpered! FAST!

It was NOT a mouse.

So my day off wasn't. went in early to clean up what I left when I ran. And at the end of the day when I could get the blokes to help me shift the big doors stored in that corner and get a squiz.

Holy Cow! It's a chocoholic RAT. We were given a big basket of Easter eggs (yeah, I know, it's a regional thing ) and this bloody rodent had climbed onto the table to steal the small solid ones. 7 times!!! Great flicking bites out of them all but not one finished. (....knew a bloke like that once.... ;) )

So all food is away and a very special snack has been left for it.

I've got the heebies, coz the bloody thing was doing all of this WHILE I WAS THERE!!

So, my day off tomorrow will start with a snack check. The flick man was there on Fri, too. The baits they leave are in stations too small for this critter. Grrrr!!!!!

Other than that, I did get to cook one dish and read a bit. Not all was lost. :D

How did yours go?

Hey Trisk,

Yes rats like chocolate...who knew right? I got a tip from a pest controller once. He said that if you don't know what you've got running around the place here is a test you can do.
Put out a piece of chocolate, cheese and apple...

.if the chocolate is eaten then you've got a rat

if the cheese is eaten then you've got a mouse

if the apple is eaten then you've got a possum

I've done my share of catching/killing rodents but never heard that one before and he was right. Turned out I had a possum tapping on the walls. Got rid of it but I learnt something new.

Which is why I guess people are living in tents and caravans yet earing large salaries. The only people getting rich are the companies and the hookers.

I'm so looking forward to not working in a few years time. House will be paid off next month, then I get to have all my pay to myself and of course the taxman, but I pay less tax as I get older. This getting old stuff does have an upside and I get the choice of the good car park spots.

I think I will go nuts if I'm not working!
I mean, I'm already kinda crazy, but that will get much worse

Having your house paid off is a good thing :) Every time we get close, something big happens and more money has to be spent.

There's something to be said though, for drastically simplifying life.... might consider tent-living in the future :D
Somewhere with stable mid-range temps and good fishing!

Work for me these days is a chore...I could do more good working with people that really need my help. I'll probably do some charity work when I get out of the workforce, but first its lots of relaxing and attending to the garden and just not having to wake up to that damn alarm. Getting up when I want, doing bugger all when I want and most of all not having to listen to senior management who can't find their rear ends with both their hands. I've been in management just over 13 years and I've never met a dumber bunch of insecure narcissistic fuckwits as I have dealing with management. Christ oh mighty. The only rule seems to be make sure you can blame someone else for your fuckups and for god's sake don't let the truth get in the way. Yet these same people talk about company values and loyalty. Now that's a joke.

The only loyalty I have these days is to myself. I've peaked behind the curtain too many times.

Crazy is good...in this world, challenging the norm is how we progress accepting the "as is" means you can't feel anymore.

Hi Jack! Welcome to the thread!

Come closer and we'll whisper in your ear........................... :D

You're going to whisper in his rear...must be a new fashioned booty call...wonder is that's overseas rates of local area? I believe its cheaper after 7pm

Moring all,

Hello to all the new people just jump in when you feel ready

Well as I've read in the previous pages winter is everywhere at the moment. No different here in Melbourne town, we've had a couple of weeks of really cold mornings down to 2 or 3 still at 8am. Not the coldest part of winter yet. That should happen next month. Has been below zero in the outer suburbs already this winter. So far its looking like an old fashioned winter like we used to have over 10yrs ago. Wind chill time is yet to arrive. But the year is past its mid point so Christmas isn't that far away.

Hope all enjoy the weekend what ever the pursuit.

Special mention to Gil, Bandit and Ms Moon - hope all is going well

Fire is lit :)
And it only took 2 litres of petrol.
I'm such a firebug.... I love the whoosh! when it catches!

It's all good, til someone burns off their eyebrows... then it's too much fuel. :D

Good morning

I still have my eyebrows - I have perfected the art of remote ignition!
(Wrap a.few sheets of newspaper around a cowpat, light it, then hurl it into the pile!)
:D

Plans for the weekend?

My plans are sleeping and recovering... had a few days away to misbehave, now I need to catch up on some rest.
