OMG!!! A kiwi sighting!!!

Good to see you back Byron!:kiss:

You could always get in the Aussie Day mood reading about the cockroaches races in Brisvegas.

http://travel.ninemsn.com.au/holidaytype/weird/721870/australia-day-cockroach-racing

Thanks for the great welcome!:kiss: But Cockroach races ?? .... Now I've seen it ALL! ....
"The dunking stool celebrates everything that is great about Australia Day: hot sun, cold beer, wet breasts and cockroaches… "

... and you wonder why I retreated to the NZ bush (kiwis are very vulnerable in the Aussie outback!)

Oh I get it... that's a coded welcome back huh? "hot sun, cold beer, wet breasts and (lose the roaches)..." Gotcha ... packing the bag ... chill the beer.:rose::rose:

Mr Byron!!! You know I would NEVER code a welcome back for you!! There is NO code fit enough for a lovely friend. lol

You gotta love the pulling power of a crawly insect. People from all around the country and o/s go to this! *scratches head* We have yabbie races here, to raise money for the school. At least you can eat them. Same concept tho. Naming the contestants is a sport unto itself! lol

Kiwis vulnerable in the outback??? You need a better guide!!! Next expedition wear King Gees and Blundies and you'll be right! :D

I think there will be a lot of volunteers for the twelfth man spot :rose:

Hi WQ, lovely av

Thankyou

Well, he's gone again for a few days.
I made excellent use of his skills while here though- timing-chain guide in the limo needed adjusting, springfed dam water pump needed priming (for some reason I couldn't get the bloody thing to co-operate  ), 2 inch fittings needed replacing (bloody right arm damage means I just cannot do things like that)...
But I made sure to reward him for all that by making a scrumptious dinner and then ravaging him for the rest of the night

I am feeling slightly run down today - all that effort! Phew *wipes brow*

Happy Australia Day, everyone!!

Hi there Pert! Hope you had a great Chrissy, NY and Aust Day!

Good evening MzFrisky, lurgy is still hanging around & BANDIT:heart: is grumpy because she isn't well enough for her boxing class at the gym.
On the other hand i seem to be doing better than BANDIT:heart: is.

We have a palm tree accross the street that is the night nesting spot for 100s of Rainbow Lorikeets & they sure make a racket.

Having a shocker lately with health AKA Rotten lurgy I though I was almost over returned with a vengence & I've been crook since before Xmas with only little snips of feeling normal.

I'm determined to be well for the meet in May.

Kiss it sounds a lot like Sydney as it seems we had our one day of summer on Monday now it's dry is not raining & still if not windy it seems.:mad:

Anyone planning to stay at the venue want to think of doing a group booking or make our own plans?

Might be time to push this with as many Aussie threads as possible or just the small group?

:rose:
Now what could that be...leather and lace, oh I know a doylie to put the stubby on and a couple of leather strips to lasso another stubby from the chill bin as they say in NZ although it sounds more like chully bun.

Yes I know my powers of perception are so awesome, like

Lovely av

Now those fingers wouldn't be moving to a nipple by any chance would they?

Damn...got me all excited there Elfie....thought you'd written "leather strips to lasso another subby".....sighs....well one can always dream....how is your wrist action??

 for the kind words regarding the av. It unlaces all the way down....good with knots?

Greetings A/all

Happy Birthday Triskie girl!! Hope you have a wonderful day and get spoilt. :rose:

Not good to hear about you and Bandit being unwell, Mr Gil, sending you both lots of healing energy and good thoughts...okay...well they are wicked thoughts ;)

WQ....Mr Man looks scrummy...lucky you. Has the weather evened out now? :rose:

It's humid, damn humid in Brisvegas this week so far. At least a little sunshine today. Wasn't sure at first what it was, seems so long since the sun has appeared as such.

Of course now with the heat it's open window time so we are sufferng from Sinusitis...damn people who plant Murraya (Mock Orange). One sniff and the head aches, nasal passages block and I just feel so sick. Had child home for two days off school with high temperatures and now following down her path. Blaah...nothing like feeling hot in hot weather.

Currently have a long time visitor. Other people's kids bring home stray animals they find, mine brings home other kids. Have a young girl who is here for the duration. Rang her Mother to inform her she was here, Mother basically is not interested. Told me she (daughter...16) can go find out what it's like in the world, not interested in child at all, hasn't even rung myself or her daughter since to check on her at least. Um...don't know the Mother, Mother doesn't know me. I'd be here knocking on the door in a flash if my child.

So now have two 16 year old girls...oh yes, so need all those extra hormones. Child has no shoes for school, so gave her money for that. No proper uniforms, hasn't been attending as Mother didn't bother sending them...Mother doesn't value education, child said Mum always after men. When the girl opened our cupboards and fridge, got so excited at how much food there is. Why do people have children and not care.... I understand that it is a challenge and some children do make it extremely hard to have them living in the family. Sometimes hard decisions have to be made for a child to not live there, but you do it properly, through channels. But all she did was be home late from dates. Goodness...my Mother should have kicked me out many a time way back then. Child doesn't drink, do drugs, her boyfriend is a lovely kid, he's been here to visit and always behaved well. But then I lay laws down, watch over them without being a prying eye in their face. Damn....my blood has been boiling for two weeks.

Spent 5hours and 35 minutes on phone to various "help" agencies...to no avail. No one wants to know. Rang Child Safety only to be asked, "what do you want us to do?" So what? I put a child out on the streets? Can't get Youth Allowance as she is from another country and not a permanent resident. She wants to continue education, not a lazy child....how do you keep encouraging them when no one else seems to want to truly help and appropriately help them? Finally got the school to talk to me and have begun the process of gaining support within the school.

Phew...sorry for the rant, but haven't had anyone to do so to. Just so damn angry at systems which will rip a family apart when there is no need and then turn it's back on others who need assistance. I worked in Child Welfare many years ago and it's frustrating to see that the processes haven't improved and are still not truly geared to help a child in deep need.

Okay...shutting up now.

I hope each of you have a wonderful week and enjoy all or who you do....

Glad to hear the jobs have been done & rewards served up.

Happy Birthday Mz Frisky

Thank You, Master Gil! :D

Had the BEST morning! HUGE cake, flowers and lottery tickets (winners I hope! lol) at work. All the staff came down and rounded up as many regulars as they could and they all sang Happy Birthday. I was red as a beetroot but felt really special. I love my town and the people I work with. :D:D:D

Off to see the cherubs now. Will have an even better evening. Chille Con Carne. Home made. WooHoo. Then down to Melb via Albury. Looove Melbourne.

Thank You, Ms Moon. :D

Sorry to hear of your battle with the authorities regarding the welfare of this child. It's all very good signing covenants enshrining the international rights of children when their wellbeing can't even be established in our own 'lucky country'!!

Maybe the Smith family can help? I seem to remember that they have a particular interest in a child's education? Your local Lions' Club may have educational grants, too? Sometimes a local member can organise help when all else fails. Depends on their priorities.

That girl does not know how lucky she is to have found herself with you and under your care. Others; citizens at that; are not so lucky. We can fine or jail a caring parent for a slap, but this emotional abuse and withholding of care is not just allowed but actively ignored!! Great world we live in, sometimes.

I wish you all the help you need and all the humour you can find to help get you through. :rose::kiss:

WQ has some hair raising stories about child endangerment laws/agencies.

Kiss it sounds a lot like Sydney as it seems we had our one day of summer on Monday now it's dry is not raining & still if not windy it seems.:mad:

Did a quick trip through last week and was raining and miserable then so dry is good, though I vaguely saw sun from the airport on my way back north. Seems you guys are having as much lovely weather as we are up north.

Bugger looks like I missed WQ's SO flash... :(

Ms Moon all I can say is the powers that be can often be mind blowingly stupid, nothing makes sense when you'd think it should be pretty straightforward.

Triskele.... hope you have a great day!!!
