Hi Valia, a good decision . . . nitro cars . . . ahhh . . . I remember the model car thinggy well . . . started with remote control model planes and got grounded . . . :D

Nitro cars are a bit like your first push bike . . . something you get when you are 12 or older because until then you don't have enough sense to stay out of trouble . . . ;)

Hi Nostress . . . a lovely area . . . even some of the tourists were nice . . . ;)

The Port Stephens area is the playground for Newcastle . . . the HUnter River is hardly a harbour, but the Port is the third major safe harbour after Sydney Harbour (the world's best) and Broken Bay . . . how many countries have three natural world class ports within 100 nautical miles of coastline? ;)

Well my plans for tommorow are to travel to the lovely city of Sydney and do battle with the traffic to get to Homebush to buy a few things for the house at Ikea.

I think they are at homebush but wherever they are is where i have to get to.

Not many except for us i would think.

Pity Newcastle isn't a true deep water harbour though, the ship just clear the bottom when fully loaded.

As for nelson Bay i had a wander around the place a few months ago and it hasn't changed much from what i can remember.

we are just about to start dredging our port to allow the bigger ships in, but the way the size of ships is increasing it will still be to shallow in 10 or 15 years

Unfortunatly (or not depends on your view) Newcastle can't dredge any deeper as the old coal mine shafts run under the harbour and going any deeper would be to risky.
Would be a sight though to see the harbour drain into an old shaft.

so long as you could watch it from the coast and not in one of the shafts.
