Okay. Here's the scenario.

A kiwi residing in NSW for several years gets in trouble with the law. They jump the ditch instead of going to court. They now have a warrant for their arrest. A year later, the same person wants to go to QLD for a holiday.

The question is this: Do the different States monitor who is coming and going from NZ, and will the red flag be waving when this person arrives in Brisbane?

Just curious. ;)

Hi kj . . . Uhmmm . . . it possibly depends upon how serious the "trouble with the law" was.

If any State or federal police badly want a person known to live in NZ, then they simply organise to have the NZ police arrest that person and hold them pending an extradition hearing which usually will return the person to the petitioning State on their own request or by order of the court.

With Oz now in the throes of Howard Terrorism Laws being railroaded through Federal Parliament, anything is possible.

As a guess only, and without any known facts to back the opinion, if entry to Oz was through Brisbane or Townsville then the possibility of discovery by NSW may be minimised.

However, remember that computer networks cover Oz and work from anywhere. Whether the data is on the required page at the entry point is really the question. :)

An interesting question . . . I must ask a Migration Agent. :)

Yeah I wouldnt either. I don't think it was the first offence. By the sounds of it he was looking at going for an unplanned holiday.....

I'll find out how long ago it was. Is there a cut off point or do they just keep coming after ya? LOL

Uhmmm . . . Statute of Limitations is usually six years EXCEPT for capital offences like murder/manslaughter when there is no limitation . . .

A parking fine is fairly trivial, and is often caught up when a driving offence is committed and the "nice" policeman checks to see if you have been a bad person recently . . . :)
