I played good samaritan tonight. When we were sitting down eating dinner we heard a low but audible 'boom' and then mum saw a huge flash of fire over the fence. It seemed to be at the local bmx track, but it could have been at the Rec centre. So I went to have a look and found a heap of kids had lit a fire and obviously used accelerants.

I phoned the police and they asked did I think they been using accelerants, I said yes and they immediately rang 000. I told them I thought it was kids and that it had died down. Then the fire brigade phoned me to get exact directions and the patrol car phoned for directions as well.

I told them I thought it had gone out but 5 minutes later the fire engine turned up. I went over and told them who I was (thank god the fire was still smouldering so they didn't think I had pranked them - I told them that too, and they thought that was funny) and found out that 3 Fire engines had turned up. They put the fire out and told me that when I talked about an explosion they thought it might have been a car going off.

So all is well now and at least the local kids now that the neighbours keep an eye on things.

the CFA have a policy now to send out a few engines right from the start, with the old system one truck would respond then call for others but its better to get everything there early.
only problem is the kids who lit the fire might of got a kick seeing all the fire trucks turn up and may decided to do it again

Hopefully they won't - but the guys did tell me it was the 2nd fire like that they had attended today. They attended one in the afternoon too.

Yeah I gotta call it a night too - I have to feed the pets and the neighbours dog. And if it stops raining we have an early start tomorrow morning with little athletics.

BANDIT & I also want VALIA to join us at the G&G & at this stage she looks like being there although she is worried being so shy but I'm sure we will all make her feel comfy among us & of course me being a gentleman have offered her my lap to sit on just to help her feel less shy.
