Aussies! Check in here!

Afternoon all,

Good to see some new posters and a couple of more people from Melbourne on the thread, so welcome all.

Gets so dark now earlier in the afternoon, had to have the lights on earlier to do stuff around the house.

Tried a new type of Jack Daniels that was on special, Tennessee Fire which has cinnamon liqueur in it. It's a little sweet for my liking but is ok straight. Normally have Jack with coke but it would be too sweet with this one. Probably more a Christmas drink.

The long weekend was rather quiet in the neighbourhood, possibly people got away from the cold for a few days. Might think of a trip next Winter to the inner part of the country since it's cooler at this time of the year.

Hope the rest of your week goes well.
How cold was it I was in the coast in Vic & the sun was out but brrrrr caused no end of shrivleness lol

Hold on the weather comes from your part of the country so all that rain you guys get comes our way here in Melbourne, well actually we need it. Funny though it can rain in Geelong and not touch Melbourne. Sydney gets more rain that we as my friends in Sydney keep complaining about.
Climate change. We get half the rain we used to get up to the 80's. The big fronts mostly go underneath us now unless the Indian ocean top gets over warm. The dipolar I think its called. All else fails, fly to Broome and camp out on Cable Beach for a few months

Funny here too winters are so much colder but less rain. I think cable beach is a perfect idea for a meet & greet & fun Lazing in the sun mmmmmmmm

Happy Hump Day, Aussies!

I just happened to take a little stroll down memory lane and found this! Thought I’d share it here in hopes it gives at least someone a little chuckle.

I hope you’re all keeping well.

I was quite keen to take the Friday flight out of Singapore to there and then the Sunday night or Monday sparrows flight back down here. Options now for a little fun in the sun over winter.

As long as you got out of Singapore before trump arrived lol

Very jealous te the water. My shower was warm & so is my bed but that’s about it
Got to recharge the solar panels when you can. Fortunately, nothing on that requires face to face so told the team to work remotely until Monday

Hi aussies...

I'm still around, despite a few setbacks.... health, wealth, etc.

On a positive note, I am down 26kg! Have now transitioned fully over to keto eating and am finding it quite easy despite the first few days being very confused about how it all works. Size 16 (tight) down to a size 10!!!

Had a major slap in the face yesterday when I realised that at age 50, I have either lost or given away every single substantial thing I built up (businesses, etc) and I now have nothing left to pass on to my kids.... Time to get my ass into gear and build up something for them, I think! and this time I will stay single and not allow anyone into my life that might fuck it all up for me like past partners have done. I do have an idea for a new business, but now need to get together the finance to kick it off...

Seems this weekend will be horribly messy for us down here in the forgotten part of Oz - it has already begun snowing at Cradle Mtn and we've had a day and a half of scuddy rain and gales. Good excuse to stay home and work on costings/proposals for my new venture.

Heater, computer, Dewers, and single-minded focus - that's the plan!

Stay safe and warm xx

Happy blue sky Friday
Keep your eye out for opportunities and make your approaches, you just never know.

You need to try Glenfiddich 50 Year Old Scotch Whisky now that’s a nice drop.

Yep Glenfiddich is my single malt of choice. Haven't tried the older stuff given the cost. Purchased my second bottle of the 21yr old as a birthday present to myself earlier this year. Was looking at the 40yr old a couple of years ago but I see the price recently has gone up to just under $5000, so might have to wait for a duty free option.

Intend to make another trip to Scotland in the coming years but this time up to the Scottish highlands to take in the local wildlife and the scotch :D

Was out yesterday for a GP visit and yep it was bone chilling once I got out of the car. We get those south pole winds in the Winter so as you mentioned the sun could be out but doesn't have any warmth, but I'm warm most of the time so not so cold for me. Do have to laugh at tourists that come to Melbourne in the Winter.

You want to experience Melbourne in the Winter, go to a footy match buy a pie and try to eat it while your hands are like ice and at the same time your mouth is burning from the volcano pie...ah yes those were the days of my youth.

What climate change, isn't that a myth according to the Libs? Besides Abbott reckons the fact that the weather is getting warmer is a good thing since more people die from the cold. Them penguins might have to get used to new neighbours trying to get away from the heat.

It was interesting that last month here in Melbourne the air quality was impacted by the usual stuff but also from people going back to using wood fires in their houses.

Yep Glenfiddich is my single malt of choice.

Myself I prefer the smokey malts where they source their water from the peat springs. Something like Talisker or Llagavulin (think that's the right spelling lol). Not overly expensive at around $70 unless you go the top end ones.

Cheers
