Aussies! Check in here!

Afternoon all,

Well we finally did get a couple of days above 20 this week. Lovely sunny days but not warm. But well it is Melbourne so the weather is very changeable. Like we say here if you don't like the weather just wait a while. As per normal lots of wind around in Spring. I mean them seeds have got to get around besides being dropped off by the birds. That fake owl I put up near my car port has certainly done the trick. No bird poo on the car since I put that up last year.

Only 3 public holidays left in the year. Melbourne Cup is the next holiday due the first Tues in Nov. Unlike when I was a kid you can't just pop in there on any given day.

Had quite a lazy week apart from the hard rubbish day. Lots of bower birds driving around the area. In my case not much was left for the rubbish guys to take away. The old TV went rather quickly.

Will be watching Bathurst this weekend even though I'm not a rev head. It's always a good race to watch even if you aren't into car races.

Hope your weekend goes well.

Hey Mont,

Been to Canada a number of times beautiful country. Bali belongs to Indonesia so not an Aussie place except for the cheap holidays. No other news except that from what I've seen on local media here is that the Volcano is only impacting those in the inclusion zone, only impacts local villages in that area. Seems to be no issue for local tourists in the main districts. Hope that helps. I wouldn't suggest looking at any Indonesian govt websites, they aren't good on that stuff. Better off to just google Bali Volcano
Appreciate the feedback, darkelf9, all the very best.

Hi everyone!

Back home and back to more civilised temperatures. Damn, but NSW and Qld are hot and muggy! Co-drove a car back to Brissy from Bathurst and flew out yesterday.

Bathurst.
What can I say? The race always throws a curveball, and this result was no different! Davey Reynolds was a very popular winner, and the erebus team did a fantastic job for a relatively new and small outfit.
I woke up on Sunday with a premonition that we would achieve the number one spot - and the rest of my campmates gave me absolute hell for wearing all erebus that morning.
Vindicated :D

Came home to an awesomely clean house. My 20 year old son did a magnificent job xx

Public holiday here in Launy for show day today, so I will be pottering around home and unpacking, etc.

What a great week all up!

Sounds like you had a good time!

Saw the last 10 laps on the box. Good racing!

Yes... heating up here. It's all happened in rush this year it seems.

Afternoon all,

Well it's Friday the 13th....spooky...well not really. Went out and nothing happened, not that I was expecting anything. Went to Bunnings this afternoon and walked out with only the things I had on the list although was tempted to buy other stuff. However spent some other dollars at the local Westfield. Not impressed that it will now be paid parking. Will be interesting during the up coming Christmas shopping season to see if sales are impacted. Will have to remember to wear a watch when I go there in the future.

I think Abbott is trying to out do Rump in the "who is the dumbest" contest. Global warming is good for you and apparently will save lives...till people start dying of the heat. He should watch the latest Mad Max film.

Purchased my first beer six pack this week for the warmer weather. Apparently going to warm up in Melbourne to 30 by Wed. That's a long way off in Melbourne terms when speaking about the weather so anything could happen between now and then. What I do know is that the grass is growing faster now with the recent rainfall.

Hope your weekend goes well.

All quiet on the Northern front too...
So it is possible then... to leave Bunnings without buying more than you went in for :D
Westfield 'give' you 3 hours free up here... same for you?

Abbott is playing a deceitful game as ever he has... swivel-eyed loon!

Have fun with the Melbourne weather!

Hey Zach,

Yep the first 3hrs free is a Westfield standard. I was told today that if you register you get the first 4hrs free. Just the thought of spending 3hrs at any shopping centre is not my idea of fun. Apparently it's free after 6pm.

Other Westfields here have installed paid parking. I only use it cause it's not far away. Prefer using Chadstone but that's a longer drive away but it is a much nicer and more open shopping centre.

Don't worry I'll be going back to Bunnings next month, this time to get stuff for me so I could come back with lots of other stuff. They did have the sausage sizzle going today and for some reason I saw lots of kids out today.

I have a love/hate relationship with bunnings.....
I love that they almost always have exactly what I am looking for, but I hate that I almost always walk out with more stuff and having spent more money than I went in for!

I liken it to shoe shopping for guys...so much stuff you want even if you might not need it. It's one type of shopping I don't might spending time doing and their specials are pretty good.

Afternoon all,

Well they were right it certainly has warmed up in Melbourne town. Was out mowing the lawns earlier and it certainly is warm, even broke out in a sweat. Might be warm enough to have a beer, nice and cool in the house though. Won't last long though, that's the warm weather not the beer.

So they found the explosion of two planets that happened 130 million years ago, long time to wait for evidence of a bang...they must have been female planets :D

Seems we don't need a clean energy target, Abbott must be thinking he is on his way back to the leadership and no doubt the Labour party is loving it. The Libs obviously don't want to win the next election. Julie Bishop sounded not so impressed in her radio interview. Just rolling out the party line, which is what people hate to hear. Is it any wonder people have lost faith in politicians.

The weeks are certainly moving faster now, may be it's the variance in temp as time just seems to drag during Winter.

Hope the rest of the week is good for you

Read between the lines and don't focus on the 10 second rants designed for national news grabs.

There is no clean energy target but energy retailers are going to have to meet mandated emission reduction targets... sounds like a clean energy target to me by another name.

Tony's been out and about whining about debate being shut down in the joint party room. He won't get the message but maybe the majority in the joint party room are just as sick of him as the rest of us.

Finally and I reckon the most conclusive evidence that this isn't an Abbot inspired plot, two positive articles (links below) in response in the Fairfax press, when the Newscorp mob come out and bag it tomorrow we'll know for certain.

Trade time in AFL was interesting.... did the AFL help Geelong get Ablett back with the 1st round comp pick for Motlop?

Goldcoast 500 this weekend, who wins and why. Think DJR will bounce back myself and Davey will be up there.

Other than that enjoying my new David Gilmour DVD. Saw it first in the one night only in cinemas worldwide, which was great on a big screen and in amazing surround sound. For those that don't know him, lead guitarist of Pink Floyd, and he returned to Pompeii for a concert they had done in their early days.

Racing tomorrow and who are you backing in the CC... Im between Bonneval and Marmelo, but it is a tight field and value to be had.

Then it's herb planting time, mainly basil and parsley but also need a new rosemary. Have most of the rest, including my beloved French Tarragon (most is Russian).

Enjoy your weekend.

Scummie I would never have picked you for a gardener lol

I’m counting down to footy season. You should be happy at cow land..being they just got Gibbs back to SA.
I’m saying it here now. Bombers top 4 next season. Stringer and SAad are one of the hottest trades this week.

It’s windy this weekend, but..I. Going deep sea fishing tomorrow yay. First time ever. If I’m not posting Monday lol I’ve fallen over board and now shark bait. It’s been nice knowing you all lol :)

Well I grow herbs cause I love to cook... (surprise #2).

Happy to get Gibbs, but we lost a bit too. With Lever and Cameron gone and Smith injured, top 4 would be a luxury. Essendon had a great draft, not sure top 4 is there yet but will be close.

Deep sea fishing for what? Where you are I'm thinking Snapper, but who knows. Have a great time, I'm a little bit envious.

Why do people ask what I’m going for? Lol fish is fish 🎣
Nope top 4 all the way 😋

Thanks but I think I'll make my own mind up. I used to believe newspapers when I was younger, these days they all have their own political agendas plus they put a story together which doesn't reflect all the facts. I've read articles in newspapers which I had personal knowledge of that didn't reflect the truth, its about telling a story to grab readers. These days I take all that info with a grain of salt. Next you'll be telling me that the NBN is a fantastic success.

My goodness a guy that can cook....seems one of the first questions women ask me, like it's a super skill. Not sure...is that reverse sexism? Had a female friend visit one time and she was surprised that I used Glad Bake or that I had even heard of it.

However I do enjoy cooking now that I have the time.

Afternoon all,

Well I've taken the plunge into getting the NBN hooked up by a service provider so will see how that goes. Since we all don't have a choice. Saw the report on 4 Corners last night and boy have the Libs made a fuck up of the rollout. NZ has a better internet and phone service than will we ever have given the infrastructure being put into our system. Going to cost billions to get it upgraded. Decided to stick with the same speeds considering the system can't deliver even 50mbps. The clever country and apparently we are open for business, provided we don't use the internet.

Got the eyes checked yesterday and spent a lot of dollars on new specs. It turns out that it was cheaper to get new frames and lenses rather than just change the lenses, it used to be the other way around.

Also discovered that how house insurance is calculated these days is different. So got that updated. You have to ask rather than being told. The information age, just need to know what questions to ask. A case of waiting for the customer to complain and do their fault finding for them.

Mostly raining week in Melbourne town this week then warming up for the weekend. Doing a drive to the country for a family birthday this weekend. A very long long day. Apparently it's a surprise birthday lunch, not sure why considering they have it every major birthday.

Hope your week goes well.

The NBN has been a fuck up since Kevin and Conroy jotted some figures on the back of an envelope then rushed to the press conference to announce their "master plan."

Midnight Oil Tomorrow night

First saw them at the Arkaba believe it or not. 400 ppl maybe and what a night, just after the Bird Noises EP came out. Was more about Head Injuries and Cold Cold Change or Back On the Borderline. Saw them again later at Memorial Drive, which was good, but nothing like the up close and personal of the original concert.

This time taking my sons 26 and 21, they have had to live with me playing it and now enjoy it. Just hope they play older stuff, from 10,9,8 and before would be great. To me that was when they were great, US Forces or Power and the Passion, along with those mentioned previously.

Have a great day tomorrow, I know I will!

The Concert

Was so much more awesome than I expected, The Oils are every bit as good today as they were in the past. Was great taking the boys and seeing them rock out.

Welcome Summer enjoy your time here.

Just wanna put this out about wibbly wobbly Abbott. Worth a watch and a giggle as he changes his stance on Climate Change over the years.

I saw it on Insiders this morning. It really nails Abbot as the political whore that he is. Willing to speak for what ever cause he thinks will further his career. Now he has got another cause if he can't win, then Turnbull has to lose, and lose big.

I'm starting to think it might be time for a revolution - force out all the current politicians and start fresh.
