I can see the point of protesting any elitism which allows access only through class, wealth or education, but the Olympics reward a form of elitism one can only gain through proficiency, practice and exertion.
No doubt one could protest that there are more essential uses for the money spent to stage the Summer Olympics, and surely many will, but that is a question of priorities not of elitism.
It appears that Colin Moynihan has chosen the mot juste by describing Trenton Oldfield as “one idiot.”
