Apparently, while I was out delivering pizzas Sunday in a veritable monsoon (and got shit for tips, thank you very much!), a tornado touched down about ten miles south of me, in the Seat of my County.

Thus far, those I know who live very near there, including a good friend who goes to that church in the article, are okay.

Actually, I was kind of hoping to see it. It would have been a rather cool Birthday Gift. ;)

Oddly enough, we haven't had many tornadoes in my are throughout my lifetime. In the last four years or so, there have been at least two or three a year - not too large, but still there. it's kind of curious.

Tornado power

I grew up in the Midwest and saw many tornados. More than a few times we would scamper down to the basement and sit tight until the coast was clear.

I didn't take it too seriously until I saw the damage one did to a trailer park. It was leveled, despite tie-downs. The power of a tornado is beyond being awesome.

I love watching the movie "Twister" with the surround sound turned up, though.

You just haven't lived until you have seen an F5

scared the fuck out of me....it sucked up the *grass*...

never again...

Seen my share too...

What's worse is when you get a verticle shear wind on a line many miles long. The damage of a moderate tornado X 100.

I've seen some bad ones here. The worst one I remember; There were two houses left standing on one entire block. It was in the afternoon, and I remember walking up to what were houses, and all that was there was an empty basement-cement block-not even the funace or anything was left.Scary shit. But when you have the opportunity to witness a tornado,it's an awesome showing of Mother Nature's power over us all.
