Not half bad.. the remaining members of RATM and Chris Cornell.. I could get used to Chris's vocals over Tom's guitar.

Has anyone heard from Zach de la Rocha? He seems to have dropped off the face of the earth

Would have posted this on the 19th when it came out and I got it.. but I had no modem at the time, so three days later I can freely say:

Get this freekin CD! If you liked RATM or if you liked Soundgarden you'll love Audioslave.

The best way I can describe it.. It's RATM with sharper guitar riffs, with Cornell's Soundgarden singing, minus the political lyrics.

www.audioslave.com is where you can check out some sounds. Cochise, Gasoline, Set It Off, I Am The Highway and Hypnotize are my favorite tracks on the CD.

I heard Cochise good shit I am defenitely picking this one up..good rock music is so rare now.

Good rock music it is.. although some of it is a little too mellow for my liking.. But all in all pretty damn good.

Zach was supposed to go on to do a solo career in rap/hip hop. the worst thing he ever did was leave that band. Chris Cornell is pretty good but I liked Rage a lot better.

Thing is I think Zach thought he made the band.. when in reality he was just a part, but it was Tom's playing and writing ability that was just as big a part.

I hope this isn't a one time deal.. this could be a legendary group in years down the road.

Rage was one of those bands that actually stood for something. their songs had meaning and merit. I can only hope this can carry over to AudioSlave

Well don't expect political messages from Audioslave like there was with RATM. One of Cornell's first rules was no political lyrics.

In a way I don't mind. RATM is done, it's out there.. the messages they brought out are still fresh and very relevant to todays world.

And it's not like Tom has totally gone cold turkey. He still runs a political activist web site and still speaks his opinions just like he did in the current Rolling Stone mag.

I prefer Rage over AudioSlave.

I like Sound Garden and all, but I just can't put the two together. I like the guitar riff at the beginning of Cochise though. :D

I think audio slaves sucks soooooo much balls...his voice is sooooo bad...argh!

amen.

chris cornell is awesome, but i dont know..rage is rage.. theyll always be remembered as that.. theres nothing wrong w/ the other band members teamin up w/ someone else..but theyre sounds the same, therefore it just sounds like rage w/out zach, as opposed to audioslave..its not fiar to chris.

I noticed. :D

But I totally agree. Audioslave is all the rock of Rage but Chris sounds so whiney singing for them. He has an amazing voice but I'm afraid it isn't hardcore enough for Rage.

No, and for someone like myself I've put RATM in the past.

You do hear RATM in the music, but it's not classic Rage.. no rap lyrics, the guitar riffs are edgier, the mood in some songs is mellow beyond anything Rage would ever do.

Compared to Rage.. well they don't compare. But to compare isn't fair to anyone. Audioslave on it's own merit is pretty damn good.

Hmmm....I'll start by saying what I said to Pez last time I saw her, if she remembers. It's like you've got the agressive rock of Rage...and then Chris Cornell's whiny bitch voice. I've only heard the single. I'm a big Rage fan, and a fairly big Soundgarden fan...but the two together makes Chris sound like a whiner throughout most of the single. I'm not saying the two can't work, just that they seemed to work a lot better apart.

I guess I'm alone in this but I liked soundgarden way more than rage and Chris' vocals are great IMO.

I agree that Chris' voice doesn't help.. but in songs like Cochise and Set It Off, it's the music that is supposed to get the attention.

It's a great first CD.. but like I said, I hope for a second and an even better effort the second time around. There are a few songs on this CD that make you go "damn, this could be an all time great band if they get the overall sound just right"

btw.. you all have to agree the video for Cochise kicks ass! :)

I would have loved to had been at that fireworks show.
