Audio Stories on lit

Im not sure how to go about this, so im gonna ask here and hope for the best.

Im not much of a writer of stories. i love reading them and i do love the audio ones.

was wondering if anyone would like to have me read their stories for lit. on lit. or even how I go about it.

ive a pretty good voice. and ive got plenty of free time.

can I ask that here?

Recording isn't hard at all, you can do it with any computer that has a mic, headphone with mic, or webcam with mic. I've also used portable (digital) voice recorders, which are cheap ($29 -$150) and mostly sound good and work well. They're generally USB devices, and the files can be downloaded onto a computer much like you'd do with a USB drive.

If you can't produce exactly the audio you want in one take, or if you have a great take but there's an annoying second of background noise during an otherwise silent part, etc., you can fix it up using any audio editor. There's one called Audacity which works well, and is free, that's what I've used for mine.

Other than that, no real suggestions, except to avoid recording venues with significant background noise, unless background noise is a part of your story. I recorded one in a sex club, and the sounds of people fucking in the background weren't something that I was after, but they didn't really hurt it. ;-) Sirens, semis, low flying aircraft, and so on, can be a pain.

If the editing seems too complex to be fun for you, I'd be happy to edit, equalize, compress and reformat your stuff. I'd offer to collaborate as a writer as well, but alas, I'm just an audio guy. The stuff I've been recording and posting has all been entirely spontaneous, and never has any dialogue more complex than "Oh God, yesssss!"

Can't help you there, I'm afraid, since I don't write, I just arrange the situation and let the participants ad-lib it all. But surely there must be a thread for finding collaboratively-minded writers around here... ?

Well, i would guess making your offer on the General Board, and in the story discussion circles maybe also uploading a small sampler of your voice for authors to listen to and decide if you fit the part would work.

you also can of course read some of the stories and if you find ones you particularly like.. PM the author and ask.. i am sure most would be flattered by the offer at the least.

as for software.. softarchive sometimes has various programs running around you could testdrive.

I think the hottest audios aren't the ones where someone reads a story out, they're the ones where someone just talks about what they're feeling, or records themselves masturbating or something. Lots of breathy moans and sighs and dirty talk. Oh yeah.
