Has anyone read this or know if there is any truth to this? I have not used audio galaxy yet, but was considering trying it until I read this. Thanks.

Anyone who is using Audio Galaxy file trading software should be careful - it includes spyware from a mysterious company called VX2, which not only tracks and reports surfing information, but could even collect credit card numbers and passwords.
The software collects "some information from online forms that you fill out," according to VX2's privacy policy. VX2 promises that "if such data were...inadvertently collected, VX2 would immediately purge such information from its database."
But experts are suspicious because almost no information about VX2 is available. "I am not sure what to believe because the company refuses to identify itself, and the e-mail address given in the privacy policy does not appear to be valid," one says.

Lots of freeware, especially the MP3 filesharing programs, do contain spyware. They are installed without your knowledge (unless you read the fine print). To get rid of them get a copy of Ad-Aware from download.com. You'll be amazed at how much garbage is on your PC that you never knew about.

Miles is correct. Its a common practice with freeware, especially those utilizing internet connections.

thank you

Thank you all for taking the time to answer this. I am aware of spyware, however I thought spyware was for your surfing habits only. What caught my attention was the part about passwords and credit cards. I guess my question is would that be standard spyware practice. To collect info on passwords and credit cards. Thanks again. I have ad aware now.:) Later.
