Attention All Authors: It's the 2006 Survivor Literotica Contest!

That's right: the 2006 edition of Survivor is already under way.

In 2005, all records were broken. There were more contestants, more submissions, and more prizes than in any previous year. The top three Survivors alone posted more than 1250 stories and poems. It wasn't just the year of the die-hard story-a-day competitors, though. With an award structure that grants prizes to the top 15 contestants, even truly amateur authors who had no time to write lots and lots of stories managed to see their efforts rewarded.

This success has made us all very happy, and encouraged us to make the 2006 Survivor Literotica Contest the best one ever.

The award structure this year will be the same as in 2005, with nearly $1500 in prizes to be distributed:

Top Survivor...............$500
2nd Place Survivor.........$250
3rd Place Survivor.........$200
4th Place Survivor.........$150
5th Place Survivor.........$100
6th-15th Place Survivors....$25 Amazon.com gift certificate

Not familiar with the Survivor Contest?

The 2006 Survivor Contest is a game where you get points for each new story or poem you write, submit and have accepted at Literotica between January 2nd, 2006 and January 1st, 2007.

The objective is to write as many new and original stories and poems in as many different categories listed on the main story index in the course of the year as possible. In addition to the points you earn for each submission, there is a structure of bonuses that increase as you fill more and more categories with more and more submissions. And with the changes that were introduced in Literotica's index structure, the Contest is now open to authors and stories in any language.

To read more details and to register as a contestant, visit the Official 2006 Survivor Literotica Contest Rules thread. Take also a peek at the Discussion and Announcements, if you want a better feel for the game.

If you have any questions about how the contest works, ask them there or in the Survivor F.A.Q., or simply PM Lauren Hynde or Svenskaflicka.

The most important thing, though, is that it can be an extremely fun, challenging, and rewarding experience.

Good luck!

If there's anyone here to whom I've said editing is important, and quality is more important than quantity...

My apologies, I was SO wrong.

Everything in writing is important if your heart is in the right place. This is a challenge to explore new venues for your writing. The way you do that is up to you. ;)

It's with great honor that I've accepted Lauren Hynde's kind invitation to co-moderate the contest with her. Thank you, Lauren!

Naturally, this also means that I'll not participate in the contest myself. Instead, I'll devote my time to my school work, and fill in for Lauren if she goes on holiday or something. As have already been said, I'll also help out by answering questions.

Good luck, everyone! :nana:

physiological impossibilities, idioms and the written word

I guess the genre of erotic writing is full of these as is general writing, but since when did the heart have the capacity for passion and thought? If it did, its right place would be in the brain? Just an off-centre thought. I guess worse is, 'home is where the heart is' because if it was there and I was out, i'd be dead. Yes, in writing everything is important, especially when we use idioms. Or am I flogging a dead horse?

p.s. irony and idioms are two areas that do not cross the pond well, so for those who don't realise, this is said tongue in cheek (another damn idiom!)

Well, since you want to get all technical about it, I could say that if your heart isn't in the right place, odds are that whatever happens in your brain won't matter for long.

That's tongue in cheek as well, from the same side of the pond. ;)

That particular idiom is well established on this side of the pond.

Perhaps it originally floated across on the back of a dead horse.

Blase

... I think I see nipple! Damn that's exciting.

Grats on your continued success.
