The Greek parliament has just passed another swingeing austerity bill to protect the investments of French and German banks. People starve while the rich live off the hog. I think I'd be rioting too.

Are there people starving in Greece? I thought the problem was that they gave lavish state-guaranteed retirement and other benefits packages out that they couldn't pay for, ergo the need for an endless supply of cash infusions from the other Euro nations, primarily Germany and France.

It must be reassuring to the Greek beneficiaries of all those benefits that the Germans and the French have been happy to part with their hard earned money - to take it away from their kids and grandkids to ensure that the Greeks can retire early in comfort. The fact that the French and the Germans are getting tired of funding Greek retirements is a good reason for the Greeks to riot.

I wonder if the same thing is going to happen here as our debt/income ratio continues to deteriorate. Who will bail us out?

if obama is given another 4 years, how close is America to becoming Greece 2.0?

As long as they don't burn down most of the Greek islands, I'll be happy. I wasnt that thrilled with Athens...

They might as well bring the monarchy back since they don't seem to be doing any better than they did

if we supply them guns, maybe all the socialist can knock themselves off! This would solve many things.

1. less people on welfare
2. less people on "pension"
3. more work for the people

Yes, redistribute the wealth until we are all equally miserable. . .that's true equality.

Hell, lets get seanH to spend $5 less per day on booze and he hand over that money to a homeless person!

oh wait, people like seaH want others to pay while they keep their money

Now those guys [French protestors over the retirement age of 62] know how to throw down.

Riots, protests, shutting down infrastructures with strikes.

We should have taken a page out of their book during the health care reform battle...

And the Tea Party is the violent group...

Sean, is this how Democratic Socialism is supposed to work? You keep voting for more benefit until the system can no longer keep up with politician's promises and then you destroy infrastructure? is it because the destruction will "create jobs?"

I forget, but where were you when the English students rioted, with them, posting in sympathy, or opposed?

There are people starving in Greece and there are going to be more. Shame on you all for your obese complacency and lack of compassion. Is it a hungry child's fault that their parents' government is imposing 'austerity'?

There are a helluva lot hungrier people in the world Patrick. I don't think Greece is the place to start, besides, would that not be the job of the European Union to feed them? No sense to be rude to Americans; when there is a world disaster, our Navy is the first on the scene...

We do our share and we foot the lion's share of the UN.

I think the problem here is that the Socialism which is so beloved by so many (on the right, of course, there are no "Left-Wing" Socialists ;) ;) ) has been stretched so thin that it is running the risk of not being able to feed its peoples let alone defend them...

Germany is staring at its own collapse and yet, Germany is the bad guy.
