Atheist!

...
wmrs2 readily admits that her 'sense of life' is faith based, not one liberal here, ever has.

Amicus...

This struck a chord with me, Ami. I am not a religious person, but I have faith. My faith is based on the premise that no matter how dark it gets "things will work out." The interesting thing is that this faith is based in reality. That is, in my life, the data has shown that no matter how challenging it gets...things will work out. So do I have a reality based faith or a faith based reality? Maybe I'll start a church...I've always wanted to live at the beach.

You know what, ami?

That was an unprovoked cheap shot on my part, and I apologize. :rose:

But I must say once again, shame on you.

You are toying with this silly little twit just like the rest of us. In your case, however, you're pretending to bolster her pretense of an argument just to annoy others around here.

I call foul.[/

Apology accepted, but the shame is not deserved.

I read all the way through her posts and my first or one of my first assessments was that it was an Alt, someone feigning ignorance and illiteracy, or a young person, all just speculation or guesswork.

Although I can just about understand why you might or must think I am 'toying' with her, I am not; you are in error.

I also posted that I took her at face value, that she is what she says she is. Thus far she has not given cause to doubt that.

She could have reacted with anger when I criticized faith as being necessary for those who cannot deal with reality on an intellectual basis; but she did not.

This 'acceptance' at face value, believing that an internet acquaintance is who and what they say they are, has disappointed me before and perhaps will again.

The mistake I have made before and may be making again, is to provide such irrefutable logic as to destroy her faith. I rationalize that risk as the cost of being honest with someone and hoping against hope that a young mind will turn to logic and reason and away from faith and belief.

In this case it seems as though she has agreed to disagree without rancor, accepting my atheism as, 'rational', and still maintaining her faith, perhaps in hopes of converting me.

Incidentally, if this enters into your equation concerning me, I have stated that I learned to argue both sides of an argument and that I had occassionally done just that. However, no one here ever witnessed that; any saying otherwise is expressing a figment of their imagination.

I have mentioned before having met high IQ young people online and in several instances have remained in communication with them over the years from adolescence all the way to college and marriage. I never met any of them at any time.

I have no idea where this small encounter may lead, if anywhere, but that it might, is what keeps me open to the possibility that I have indeed met a real, true, honest person.

You might re-read what she has said of herself and how she has defended what she sees as truth. Why she pretended illiteracy early on remains a mystery to me, but then, it is her choice.

I got slapped up alongside the head with your example of 'faith', a long time ago, and this is intended as an agreement of sorts, not a refutation.

That the sun rises each day and always has, is no guarantee that it will rise tomorrow, we have, 'faith' that it will.

I propose that we must have that kind of continuity in life, for to imagine that an asteroid would fall from the sky and take our life indescriminately and to think that, each night upon retiring, would be a burden after a while.

It seems the more that is known about the nature of earth, the solar system and indeed the universe, what with solar flares and gamma bursts, that human life is tenacious enough without unduly worrying about it.

Just looked back to page 21, the idea that someone called Liar and Stella trolls is mind numbing.
Who or what was that?

And also Og.

She's a ridiculous little twit.

Or a serious alt, working hard on a dumbed-down mentality.

Yes. My life is faith based and I'm a liberal. It's not hard--Jesus's life was faith based and he was a liberal too. Amicus is just a turd.

That's called, "In your Face!"

It confirms the depths of the depravity of the 'usual suspects', even to the most forgiving.

Amicus!

Looks more like pedophilia to me. And probably incest too.

I cannot express the depths of disgust I have for your posting personality here.

And nothing to apologize for. As I noted at the time, he should have gotten a visit from Child Welfare Services.

I am so tempted to take Ami off ignore just to watch him defend dating a 6th grader. It does fit in with his ideology of promoting child labor in sweatshops.

Naa...I've got better things to do.

His manipulation of this mwrs2 alt here (even if it's he himself) is a new low, even for him.

wmrs2 will be pleased, if and when she does return, to see her assessments and predictions about the foetid corpse of the far left exposed for all to see.

She should also note the depth of the personal attack the left employs when they have been severely exposed. Got to ya, that time, right?

Not really. Used the shock treatment to make you bleed--which you promptly did. You're of such a different, nastier world--and I know you are completely impotent--that, no, you didn't/don't get to me.

Now Dick Cheney and Rush Lumbaugh--they get to me. Because they have some umpf behind them. You? No, really not. You're just pathetic.

Ami, NOTHING was discussed.

She rambled for days and said nothing, she called everyone a troll, you applauded her efforts and quoted Rand.

End of thread.

I find great amusement that a young girl, with her faith and the courage to call you out, has lifted the stink of the far left agenda up into the clean air. Maybe someone will come forth with an antiseptic spray with a medicinal odor.

heh

I spray my Febreze in your general direction.

Aww, shucks, Sweetsshh...guess that means we ain't friends anymore...such a shame, but it was fun while it lasted.

amicus...

Funny how often faith and courage are synonyms for ignorance and abusiveness.

And in this case, I think our "young girl" needs a shave around the cheeks and chin.

From that self-same Playboy interview...

You could have quoted me, also, PP, as I have often said the religion was man's first attempt to intellectually deal with the reality he found himself born into.

I am an atheist, wmrs2 is well aware of that and she will accept or not accept what she chooses. But for you to defend your lack of conviction by assaulting mine, wmrs2's or Ms. Rands, is a weak and miserable attempt at best.

Amicus...

Um, first of all I don't read most of your posts, since I have better things to do than reading rants, so forgive me for not quoting you. How is quoting Miss Rand assaulting your convictions (or Miss Rand's, for that matter)? I said it hundreds of times and I say it again, I have no problems with and don't challenge people's beliefs, neither yours nor Miss Rand's nor wmr2's, for as long as you don't try to sell them as objective truths to me.

It just struck me as curious that wmr2 is seemingly willing to overlook that you are exactly the type of atheist she is decrying in most of her posts and you in return that her rationality hinges on an apparently rather firm belief in intuitive knowledge and God at the centre of all absolutes and truth. Mr Spock would say: Fascinating.

One other thing: Why do you all think that wmrs2 is a young girl? All she said was that her education ended at the 6th grade - which could have been due to a lot of things. She claims to be a published author, having read Kant asf - so the assumption that she is still young wouldn't really be founded in anything she said. Since very few parents have the DSM IV lying around I would suppose she is coming from a family of medical professionals also.
