Do I stop being a newbie?

Out of the blue, I just had a pm from someone on here that I've never talked to, pm'd or anything. In this pm, this person basically told me that I'd never make any friends until I'd been here for awhile and that I was too much of a newbie.

So, I laugh, delete the pm, and go back to the board, but in the meantime, it's nagging at the back of my head...how I can I be too much of a newbie? What the hell prompted this person to tell me? So, in not wanting to piss this person off (like I really care) and pm them, I thought I'd ask the rest of you. So when are we not considered newbies anymore?

You've been here a lot longer than me roxie. I feel less newbie now, but still new enough to make "mistakes" in ettiquete. People have been very good to me. That's some mean bastard who wrote that to you. The first PMs I got meant a lot to me - they all do still. The place works by communication, communication - including the silences.

What bothers me about what he said is that you could have been coming here for years just reading the stories and poetry! And then decided to talk to everyone!

I've been here since December....but registered in February or March. So I guess I'm still wet behind the ears!!! *sigh* But, honestly....I didn't consider myself a newbie anymore.

Roxie, I wouldn't worry about what that person said. I've been here since Sept; I'm still considered a newbie by some, and to others I've been here a while. Just be who you are, contribute when and what you want to contribute to, and to anyone who is going to judge you based upon how long you've been here, I say fuck 'em .
