Ask A Sexy Brit A Question!

I'll be in the UK in Sept. Pretty much the northeastern border of Wales and England. What would you go see and do?

Ooo, off for a little holiday, are we? ;)

Any train out of it...

yes, my mum's visiting! can't not do london with her, although we'll do other places as well.

There are some good ones in here:

https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/london-england/places

A good mixture of things - some free to see, which is nice.

I liked the Churchill War Rooms - quite eerie. I've never been to Highgate Cemetery, I'd like to do that, especially after reading that Audrey Niffenegger novel (can't remember the title).

Not sure I'd include the London Dungeon, bit commercial, bit silly, imho.

Harsh!

Try Inner Temple Garden. A calm oasis in the heart of the hubbub. Yes, you can just walk in on a week day.

thank you all for the recommendations!!!

What we call pantyhose/nylons, you call tights. I've known that forever.

But what do you call what we call tights? Winter tights?

non-typical tourist recommendations for london, anyone?

I was just in London a few months ago. Depends on what you're into. I did a lot of museums because I'm a history/art nerd and all. :D

Highgate Cemetery in north London has the graves of George Michael and Karl Marx, among many others.

The Museum of London is not considered a Grade One attraction, but it's an incredible place. I happened to find out there that in the 18th century, there was an annual catalog of hookers who plied their trade in Covent Garden. Complete with lurid descriptions in verse of their individual talents. One version of which is on Project Gutenberg, and it's shocking and hysterical at the same time.

St. Albans, which is about a 30-minute train line out of London, has preserved parts of one of the largest cities in Roman Britain. THe museum is fascinating, especially the mosaics. Also visit St. Albans cathedral, which originally dates to the 12th or 13th century, I believe.

They have day tours by coach out of London to places like Windsor Castle and/or Stonehenge and similar destinations. Give one of those a go. :)

Wait--we have an open forum where we can ask questions of a sexy resident of the British Isles?? This is BRILLIANT! :D

Something I'm curious about. How easy is it to buy sex toys in Britain and where exactly would you find them?

Oh, this is good.

It's called Harris's List of Covent-Garden Ladies or Man of Pleasure's Kalendar for the Year, 1788
http://www.gutenberg.org/cache/epub/42075/pg42075-images.html

A snippet: 'her nut brown locks, which are placed above and below, promise a luscious treat to the voluptuary.'

And I wonder what could have possibly been meant by, 'The Elysian font, in the centre of a black be- witching grove...' 🤔😏

I'm still laughing at the woman whose advertised fee was *three guineas!* At a time when literally 99% of Britain never saw a guinea in a decade. That's got to be some damn good trim for three guineas in 1788 prices.

These days women in the UK can buy "Leggings" which include feet. Are they the equivalent of US tights?

Hm... maybe?

Here, tights are like pantyhose, but thicker. They come in a variety of patterns and colors. Typically they have feet, but they also come footless (used often by dancers). Tights are considered undergarments, although some women get confused about that.

Leggings are like knit pants, but form-fitting. The material is similar to what t-shirts are made out of, probably the most commonly-used weave is called 'jersey knit.' Leggings are considered actual clothing.

Ah so Leggings is a transatlantic term then. How dull I thought we might be onto another American/British variation of meaning.

Anyway, hello and kisses! x

To ask a sexy American a question then:

Last weekend saw the live final of a hugely popular British TV competition, "The Voice, Kids". Mark, the lovely 12yo who won it, was asked what he thought of the prize sum. He said, "It's Sick!" People in the know of British youth language got it that this was him being hugely enthusiastic. Would that be understood by an American audience?
