Sometimes advice has to be fairly forceful and you risk offending people who are already knowledgeable allies.... but if you're knowledgeable and sympathetic then you know when to cut us some slack

Good article. You'd think that most people who have taken the time to learn about transgender issues would know these things (I confess I had to click on one or two of the links myself ). In particular, "it is patronizing when non-transgender people ignore transgender people who tell them stories" about issues and problems they face in their lives. The same can absolutely be said about the attitudes of any privileged group to any oppressed group - without knowing the stories of the latter, you have no idea of their reality, and denying or dismissing those truths is patronizing at best.

Here's a thing: men, trans and bathrooms. I saw this on my Tumblr

"why do you think that restrooms are a social thing, restrooms aren't made to be a social thing, they are not discriminating against you because of a gender you identify yourself as, it's because whats in between your legs might make other people uncomfortable when they are trying to take a shit"

You don’t see the thing between other people’s legs when you’re going to the bathroom. You just go to the bathroom where you are comfortable. Trans people aren’t using the bathroom to peak at other people’s genitals. They are doing it to use the bathroom. Just let them use the facilities in peace. It affects you literally zero percent, and if it does it’s based in transphobia.

TL;DR, If you are uncomfortable with trans women in the women’s room, it’s because you are still viewing trans women as men. Period.

I'm no expert in intersex but… look at that report - they can't even write their own article with any accuracy. Under one photo they say "Taylor Lianne Chandler says Michael Phelps was unaware she was born a boy' but right after say "Chandler claims Phelps, 29, was unaware that she was born intersex and that she did not tell him during their relationship."
I'm going to have a look at the original report to Radar online, but they seem to have basically used Michael Phelps name+potential SCANDAL to make a story for people to gossip about in the hair-dressers. *sigh*

At least they used pronouns correctly, but references to deception are not helpful.

No luck with job applics but it's a crap time of year because no one is recruiting now, but I have plenty to keep me busy.
