I'm bored at home (this is starting to become a habit), and would welcome being entertained for a few hours.

I'm not feeling particularly randy tonight, sorry gentlemen. *thoughtfully* Or ladies. *laughs* Though I've yet to run into that particular scenario.

But if you're bored too, and would like to indulge in some spirited conversation, let's do this.

Let's see, I have to think of something clever to reel them in...hm...

I...like...peas?

I disagree that Virginia is for lovers?

I've neither read nor seen anything Harry Potter related?

I have double-jointed thumbs?

C'mon, people, I'm giving you gold, here! :cattail:

I'm bored at home as well.

I love to cook. (You'd be amazed at what I can do with peas.)

Never been to Virginia's. Last I heard she was a lesbian.

How can you not have encountered Harry Potter. I thought he'd reached market saturation.

I curious what a girl would do with double jointed thumbs.

I have never seen or read anything Harry Potter related either, I am truly glad I am not the only one. It would not be that big of a deal except I am actually an avid reader and love fantasy/sci-fi in general. Regardless I just never found the motivation to pick one up and always went to something else!

Harry Potter's not terribly impressive; I tried to read the books, and only managed to finish one of them, and that was pushing it. Maybe its just the author's style...

Anyway, good evening all. I hope things are treating you well.

Can a person with double jointed thumbs ever lose a thumb war? I just don't see how it could be possible. We should go on the road.

What can you do with peas, Fractured? I'm a rather deft hand with them, myself; cook-off?

Caylee: Thank you! I'm exactly the same. At this point, though, it's probably also a bit of the old contrariness. Everyone else likes it, so I refuse to do so, haha. Haven't gotten out of my rebellious phase yet.

I'm fine Donovan; thank you for asking. I've heard a lot of people say the same of the Twilight novels. Which I have also never read, though I was forced to watch the first one.

I am convinced there are others out there like us. I just seem to have a hard time finding em.

Stir-fry, sauteed, turn them into pancakes, soups, savory pies. Spicy, sweet or simply salt pepper and lemon juice. My personal favorite is the snow pea stir fried with sake and soy sauce with garlic salt and pepper. Keep it simple and you'll never go wrong.

Caylee, I knew a girl who had Harry-Potter earrings. I just...I just don't know about...these people. *shakes head* *heavy sigh*

Fractured: I'm impressed. Honestly, I was just teasing. I like peas, but I mostly just throw them into other things to boost the nutritional value. Unless I'm explicitly making pea salad, or pea guacamole, or some other pea dip.

What else can you cook? What are some of your specialties?

Agreed. While I haven't been able to completely avoid 'Potter', I have avoided reading them. Had better luck with disregarding 'Twight' though... thank goodness.
And I'm an avid reader of epic-fantasy.

Pea pancakes?!?! I bow down before your culinary prowess.

Do you read George R.R. Martin?

And if I say, Cohen the Barbarian...will you chuckle?

Only in a good way. :)
It's been a long time since I've read anything by 'Martin'. Currently reading David Drake and Terry Goodkind.

Everyone has been telling me to read Martin, but like Potter, I resisted. Then I broke down and watched the show. *love*

However, I've also been told that he takes an obscenely long amount of time between books. I just don't have the intestinal fortitude for that. I think that I'll wait until he has finished the series. Waiting just a year for Butcher's new Dresden file, or the new Dexter novel just about kills me.

Have you read any of the short story compilations by Esther Friesner? Called Chick's in Chainmail. Have women as the hero lead...

Agree completely. I have storylines that are 8 or more books. It kills me waiting 12-18 month's for the next one.

Just about anything. Decorative pastry making is definitely my weak point, I'm kind of ham-fisted.

Stir-fries are my favorite and I love to make anything with noodles.

Rise, milady, and bask in my culinary glory. :catroar:

I've never heard of those other two authors, but female heros are near and dear to my Xena and Buffy loving black-caverned cardiothoracic cavity.

I'm a vegetarian, but I adore cooking.

My weakness is pie crust. Ugh. I'm going to try two more techniques and if they don't work, I'm giving up and stocking up on Trader Joes crusts. Or just bake every pie with puff pastry, or phyllo dough.

Have you ever made pate a choux?

YES! Fucking love pate a choux. Cream puffs and eclairs :D

Try making your pie crusts with a 50/50 lard butter ratio for your fat and make sure to use ice water or a neutral alcohol for your liquid to prevent it from getting tough.

Umm... a few would be Terry Brookes... Anne McCaffrey... David Eddings... Kate Elliott...
And the heroine books are compiled/edited (something) by Friesner but they're short story compilations by various authors. The titles include: Chicks in Chainmail... The Chick is in the Mail... Chicks and Chained Males... and at least 1 more. :D
They are mostly fun stories.

See, my problem is this. I eat very...particularly.

I don't eat white flour. Or lard.

So, I have to try to do it with whole white wheat, coconut oil, butter, or (and this sounds odd, but I've heard excellent things and variety is the spice of life), olive oil.

White flour does things to me. Horrible, terrible things that shan't be spoken of, for the night is dark and full of terrors. (Sometimes, I sneak it and woe...woe!)

Have you ever read any of the retold faery tales, edited by Windling and Datlow? Like...Ruby Slippers, Golden Tears, or Black Thorn, White Rose, or Black Swan, White Raven.

Re-imagined faery tales make me squee inside.

Don't you judge me.

No I haven't. But they sound like something that will be listed on my next book store outing list.
I have no intention of judging anyone dear lady. I have too many habits of my own to be judgmental. And I'm all for anything that makes a woman squeal.
