ETA: I read through the article and there's not much from Selena herself except for a bit in the beginning about sales figures and some guessing on the audience make-up. It does, however, talk about one of her stories, "Babysitting the Baumgartners," and makes an analysis of it. Not sure whether I agree, but it wasn't a bad read.

Speaking of money. There was an article about Kitt a year or so ago and it was claiming half that amount quarterly.

regardless of which number is true unless something is changed with the massive erotica witch hunt going on even the lesser number will be very hard to match.

One thing I take from Selena is this. I do not think she is that much of a superior author to even some here, but she is a social media whore and touts herself relentlessly. Many people, and I am one of them, don;t have the stomach or patience for it, but it obviously helps

I've been pulling them back for three years--not always as easily as it was advertised I could) and Fido is being figured in--not that anyone shares the information with me.

I heard from the horses mouth that she had 100 authors. Now if you figure many of them have multiple books and she has 70 of her own 500k may not be hard to hit(gross of course)

Interesting point about not being able to pull them as advertised. That was something that recently made me turn down a publisher that contacted me.

It is getting tedious doing everything myself, but I have a hard time trusting anyone online that I am most likely never going to meet.

I hope she makes a fortune, I don't begrudge anyone financial success. That said, she does nothing for me but plenty don't, and that's prolly me more than them. I think you and Pilot write better.

Literotica is free. However, if you follow a writer(s), you tend to get the kind of thing that you want. However, reading Literotica stories tends to be a bit uneven. JMHO.

Uneven as in you never know what you're going to get? What keeps me from buying Indy ebooks is the fear of paying money for the same craps shoot. Life's too short to read bad books, but if I buy, I feel compelled to read.

We'd all be rich if we were all good salesmen. I did small business websites on the side for a couple of years, but I hardly made anything because I couldn't sell myself. (Get your mind out of the gutter!). And I hate talking about money. That didn't help either.

My wife had the same issue for years.

She would work her ass off helping others grow their business, but never pushed her own.

She finally got over that hump-when a friend of hers burned her big time-and once she started putting as much effort into it she got it going, but only after she went from being self deprecating to "hey, I'm pretty damn good, you need to pay me"

I am a lousy self promoter. I work my ass off writing and formatting and with my covers and etc...etc... but hate social media and have no flair for it.

I have no issue with talking money and knowing how to make it. My e-bay store has been a good money maker for close to 13 years, but e-bay you can build by repeat customers and reputation you don't really have to sell yourself, just know your product and have good service.

Unfortunately in the writing world you need the social media.
