Art Class

She wasn't laughing at him. At least, not cruelly. And she most certainly wasn't trying to trick him. Sabbath wasn't that type of girl. She was honest, often to the point of frustration, and rarely thought before she spoke.

She listened to him quietly as he spoke, deciding she liked the sound of his voice. Sabbath fiddled with the hem of her shirt, and when he finished speaking, she responded.

"I uh...yeah," Sabbath stammered. "I thought it was nice for a change, not having some old man..."

Her cheeks heated as she spoke. She really wasn't sounding anything like she wanted too. Sabbath would have liked to seem calm and collected.

"I was wondering," she went on. "I umm...well, see, I could use a model outside of class...you know...and I thought maybe..."

Sabbath stopped herself, feeling uncertain. She didn't want to sound too forward...did she? Maybe she did. That thought made her heart race.

Dustin shot up when he heard a model outside of class. He had accutally thought of using her as a model,he kinda got the idea from that one movie where the guy draws that one red head naked,he didn't remember the name but well,it was a just an idea that certianly sparked his fancy.

"Well,I think it would be fun,but I don't really have a house so I can't invite you over here to draw and well its to late to use the school so...." He didn't know what else to say,he sort of quietly and shyly drifted off.

He tought it would be kinda awkward being naked infront of her,As brave and as strong as he would,he kinda thought that he might accutally be to afraid to pose but if she wanted him to,he thought it would be a fine idea, cept he didnt have a place to live so he could invite her over.

Sabbath wiped her hands on her jeans, because her hands were suddenly sweaty. She swallowed hard. So he would model for her, but he didn't have a place. Well, she had a place...she could ask him to come over. The thought made her shake. But what could it hurt.

"Well, uh, I have a place," Sabbath said. "I mean...we could use my apartment. Since it's mine, it wouldn't be too late. I mean..."

She stopped, once more uncertain. She was inviting a guy she hardly knew to her place. Not just to hang out, but to model for her. Sabbath took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves.

"If you'd like...you could come over...I mean, if you have time tonight..."

He was accutally invited over to someones how, expecially a beautiful woman's? that was an oddity for Dustin.Slowly gulping,he looked at the time and then got a different idea as he reached into his pocket.

"Hey,I have an idea.I just got my social security money from the state becuase well I have no family, and since well, the night is still young if you wanted to go and well...get something to eat like dinner or if you wanted to see a movie mybe?" Dustin said as he leaned back against his bed.

Looking to the keys to seven different cares that have been rotting in the school parking lot for at least half a year,he could use any of the cars he needed, now known of them were the best cars ever by they would work Dustin hoped as he leaned back and awaited an answer hopefully.

Sabbath fidgeted while he spoke, wiggling her toes against the carpet. It wasn't like her to be so bold and now she was starting to regret her words. She bit her lip, then took a deep breath before speaking once more.

"I um...don't much like movies..." Sabbath said. Realizing how that must have sounded, she hastily added, "I mean, we could do something but I don't like sitting in movie theaters. It's boring. You can't talk and get to know someone in movie theaters..."

She let her breath out in a heavy sigh. Her stomach was in knots and her pulse fluttered wildly. Sabbath wondered if she'd said the wrong thing. She had no reason to assume that he wanted to get to know her, anyway.

"That is true but well from what I have movie threatres are the best places to go,but well I have a friend that owns a fancy place to eat,Its Mexican food though and well no one is going the be there becuase its past closing hours but he said I can come in any time and get food,so how bout a some Mexican food? I'll pay" He tried to sound as confident as he could, though he felt as if he would die from shame.

She was not alone in the fact that her stomuch was in knots,Dustins to was yet he tried to sound and look strong infront of her,was he trying to impress her? pretty much but he wasnt sure if it was working becuase he felt like an idiot inside.

Did he want to get to know her? Yeah,a lot really becuase well he thought about her all the time,he still could remember her beautiful person, the memory of what she was wearing and what she looked like even now as he held the paper she drew of him fencing,he smiled slightly it gave him a sense of comfort and a sense of strength.

"Um....well..." Sabbath hesitated uncertainly. She didn't want to say something that would offend him or give him the wrong impression. Swallowing hard, she continued speaking, choosing her words carefully.

"I'm not too big on Mexican food," Sabbath said. "And I can't stand fancy places. Um...I know of this great little Chinese place. It's not really private or anything but the food is really good..."

Yes, she much preferred Chinese to Mexican. Sabbath liked spicy food, but it tended to upset her stomach and give her heartburn, so she avoided it most of the time. Besides, she didn't want too much privacy, right? Granted having him here would be private but...well. It was too confusing to think about at the moment.

Wasnt a fan of Mexican food either? man this women was confusing,Chinese food was the last thing Dustin would have thought of but he had no choice at all,he really really really wanted to take her out to eat or out to do something so he could suffer through Chinese food, not that it was bad or anything.

"Chinese food? Sure I would love to have some Chinese food with you, well I would love to do anything with you..."Dustin said honestly.Taking a breath he continued "So,umm what time do you wanna go,I could run over to your place and pick you up or well I might be able to drive,I don't really own a car only keys to like seven of them but I dont know if they run"

Hoo boy. Sabbath thought for a moment before responding. She wasn't sure he'd much like the thought of her picking him up, but no way she was getting into a car that could break down at any moment.

"I could give you directions, and we could meet there," Sabbath suggested. "I mean...I could pick you up if you wanted but if you don't, we could just meet at the restaurant."

There were also buses, but she didn't know if she should suggest that. She supposed she could offer to let him drive her car, but Sabbath drove a stick shift, and so many people didn't. Not that she blamed them. She wouldn't have either, except it had been readily available when she needed it and relatively cheap.

He felt sorta bad that he didnt have a car and couldnt pick her up,he figured he could just meet here there.Since he was in excellent physical condition,he could run there or at least quickly transverse there on foot and meet.It would be better than having her picking him up.

"Why don't you give me the directions and I will meet there.Since its probably close to where I am,I could run there and set up a table and have everything ready for us when you arrive?" Dustin said hopefully as he felt things would work.

So she gave him directions. The place was very easy to find, because it was on a street that was mostly restaurants and stores. Plus, it wasn't all that far from the school, either. Chances were that he'd seen it before at some point.

"I um...I need to shower," Sabbath stammered. "I've got enough paint and charcoal under my nails to last a life time. Um....say...an hour?"

Dustin had accutally eaten at the place before and he knew how to get there and it was not far from where he kept up residence, the school so he could be there in under fifteen minitues if he ran as fast as he could and the thought of meeting Sabbath would give him speed and endurance.Smiling slightly he looked at the drawning.

"An hour then,I will see you there...uhhh well....see ya later than" Dustin said sorta uncertian and then hung up the phone.Standing up immediatly,he put a nice shirt on,pulling it over his head and then spread himself with some Axe so he smelt good.Tying his shoes he quickly left the school, running almost as fast as he could towards the spot, sure he wouldnt meet her for another hour but would wait for her.

"Okay. And um...you don't have to try so hard, Dustin."

She said this last right before he hung up, so she wasn't sure he'd even heard it. Sabbath hung up to phone, then rose. First she'd take a shower and get rid of the smell of paint and charcoal. It would also help sooth her nerves just a little bit.

After showering, blow-drying her hair, and getting dressed, most of the hour had passed. Sabbath took a last look in the mirror, inspecting herself critically. She was wearing a pair of jeans and a simple, off the shoulder lace up shirt. Nothing too dressy. Shrugging and rolling her eyes at herself, she grabbed her keys and left the apartment.

Ten minutes later she parked outside the Chinese restaurant and went inside.

Dustin had been at the resturant for an hour now,He got a table right in time and he had just sat there, yet no matter how much time,he was no dismayed,he was quite frankly day dreaming. When she walked in,she found him happily sitting at the table, waiting. He had willing waited and by now most people thought he was weird, sitting there for an hour without doing anything.

As she walked in,the person at the door told her that someone was waiting for her and that he was sitting in the non smoking pattio section? The pattio section over hung right above the running river. It was beautiful, with the bright lights of the city giving it a glowing golden color.

The cool breeze blew over the section,it was not warm but it was not cold it was just right. As she entered Dustin sat up in his chair and smiled slightly, she looked as beautiful as he figured she would look and he tried to hide his smile as she walked across the pattio to join him.

The place was charming. She'd been going there for years, and she loved it. As she stepped out onto the patio, a slight breeze lifted her hair. Sabbath sighed, running her fingers through the soft, red locks and hoping they hadn't gotten too messy from the wind.

She saw where he was sitting and turned in the direction, heading over. Sabbath settled down on the seat across from him and stared down at the table, uncertain what to say. She'd never actually gone out on a date before and she wasn't used to talking to people she didn't know.

He was slightly smiling as she took a seat across from him.He looked across and just looked upon her, gazing at her beauty and letting it consume him until finally he broke the silence "You look beautiful tonight, far prettier than all the angels in heaven" Dustin said with a slight smile.

Looking down at the menus that had been set out for them,Dustin looked over the food and decided he didnt know what he was going to get,he would probably be getting chou main and some orange chicken with some of the resturants famous pork fried rice.

The light sparkled off his shapire hued eyes just as they sparkled off the lake and he looked moderately handsome in his clean clothes. His eyes down cast though as he raked his brain for something to say or do,in truth he had never dated anyone either so he was quite unsure as well yet he had to try and look and sound strong,he didnt want to look weak in her eyes.

Sabbath pressed her hand to her mouth, stifling a giggle. She lifted her gaze, her pale blue eyes sparkling with good humor.

"Like I said...you don't have to try so hard," Sabbath told him, smiling gently. "You should just be yourself."

She opened her menu and glanced down at it. No doubt she'd end up getting the beef lo mein, like she usually did. And maybe a little bit of white rice. Sometimes Sabbath had to admit, she could be a bit predictable.

"Um so...well," Sabbath stammered. "Um, do you know why Chinese restaurants are done in reds and pinks?"

"Well if I don't try so hard,I might mess up and well you dont want me to be myself,I am a boring person deep down and I know women don't enjoy boring people" Dustin replied with a slight grin comming to his lips as he waited for the waiter to come and serve them.

"I think they are red and pink becuase red is the color of passion and fire and well pink the color of love?" Dustin said, trying to sound at least somewhat intellegent when really he had no idea what so ever.

She stifled another giggle. Shaking her head, she said, "I'd much rather you be yourself. Very few people are truly boring. They just don't realize it."

Sabbath closed her menu and set it at the end of the table. She knew it wouldn't belong before a waiter or waitress came along. This place was always quick with their service and good with her good. Smiling, she shook her head.

"No," Sabbath said. "The color red stimulates appetite. Making you more inclined to eat more. Next time you go into an all you can eat buffet, check out the color scheme. Green and white...colors that make you less hungry."

"But I would rather look tough and buff,I mean what kinda hero would I be if I was just book reading, not wanting to draw naked men self? But I didnt know red made you more hungry,I never tought of it? but wouldnt they want it to be green,so you would pay full price for the meal and get stiff when you dont wanna eat?" Dustin asked slightly as the waiter came to serve them.

Suprisingly it was a man of white skin? weird seening that it was a chinese resturant but Dustin didnt say anything. He was to busy trying to impress Sabbath,he hadnt even thought of ordering. When he was asked he sort of just looked as smooth as he could "Uhh some soup and ummm a fortune cookie?" Dustin said the most logical(and slightly racially sterotypical) thing that he could say.

The waiter nod and looked to Sabbath,Dustin was glad he hadnt been called on the fact that he didnt know really anything or at least he was to busy trying to look good or act good.He was so confused he didnt even know.

Sabbath swallowed hard. She looked up at the waiter and gave him an apologetic smile.

"I'd like an order of beef lo mein," she said. "With a side of white rice."

As the waiter left, she turned her attention back to Dustin. Sabbath bit her lip, trying to figure out how to phrase what she wanted to say. He really was trying far too hard to impress her, although that wasn't the point she wanted to make. Sabbath cleared her thoat and spoke.

"Fortune cookies come after the meal," she said quietly.

"Oh? I uhhh well the waiter ran off so I cant really change what I ordered,I havnt really eaten at one of these places before and well I should of consulted you instead of flirted with you before the waiter got here" Dustin said with a sorta meek and apoligetic grin.

He was trying to hard mybe but well he wouldn't give up.He wouldnt look weak,he would not bend as the wind blew against him,he would resist as long as he could.Smiling slightly he looked around and then tried to say something yet couldnt think of what to say.

OOC: I wouldn't mind joining, but there seems to be a sparse crowd in here. :)

I'll post a bio, though.

John MacLeod
6'2"
Dark hair
Green/Brown eyes
Athletic build

John isn't your typical model type. He's a man. He's lean without being overly defined, and muscular without being obnoxiously so. Think 'construction worker-type.

IC:"You want me to do what?"

She laughed on the phone. "Come on, John, I need a favor. there short on models . . ."

"But naked?" He was shocked.

"You look fantastic naked," she purred.

He sighed, but he had already decided. He wouldn't admit it, but he kinda liked the idea. Must be the exhibishonist in him.

"Fine, but you owe me for this."

OOC: Now I'll wait for more people, or until you at least get back to class. :)

Sabbath winced. She gritted her teeth, forcibly keeping herself from saying something. It wouldn't be polite to tell him that his attempts at a charming attitude were getting annoying. Sabbath prefered guys who were themselves. Pretending was dishonest, and she couldn't stand dishonesty.

Dustin sat in silence, where did he go wrong? he felt like an idiot and well he felt like he should be better.Looking down at the table and the fine decorations. He caught that she had tried to say something. Finally after spending a few minitues, wondering what it could be,thoughts racing through his mind.

"You wanna say something? I know that you wanna say something. If your afraid it will harm me,don't worry.Just sitting in suspense though on what you would say would bug me" Dustin said in clear voice, meekness gone.He decided he was just going to be like himself,he didnt become the best student fencer in the state by being meek and gentle.

Finding some inner strength,he put on a slight smile as he looked around and awaited a reply, hoping she would tell him so he wouldnt have to pry it gently out of her.
