WE'RE LOOKING FOR BLOKES WHO FANCY SPENDING AROUND 9 MONTHS A YEAR AWAY FROM HOME ON CRAP PAY THEN PROVIDE STRIKE COVER FOR TOSSERS WHO ONLY WORK 6 MONTHS A YEAR FOR BETTER MONEY!!

You have to feel sorry for the fire fighters. Two day shifts followed by two night shifts and then having to endure four days off!! Bless them. And for having to work this hard for effectively 6 months of the year they only get a miserable £17 000 basic wage + whatever they get from their second incomes.

Because of these appalling working conditions, only around 50 people apply for every vacancy the fire service have. So if you don’t fancy competing with another 49 people for this kind of slave labour, why not join the Army and compete with yourself for 1 of the 50 posts available to you and all of that for even less than the fire fighters basic wage. BARGAIN!

I watched them in action when the flat above mine caught fire. They earned my respect and support that night.

Taxi drivers
Builders
plumbers
private detectives
decorators
web designers etc etc

MP's shold get their pay docked as well - useless bunch of wankers - but that is another issue

I am not agaisnt Firemen getting more pay - but let them go to work every day and get 2 days of a week like other mere mortals -

I don't have 2 days off after 2 on. I work 24 hours and have 3 days off

Uniforms are nice, some rigs are shiny, some are shit, and we don't have bells.

Speaking as someone who has friends and relatives in all the EMS
(Emergency Services - Fire Police & Ambulance) I'd like to echo what 1Hotjob said. Its not glamourous, and they deserve every cent they get.

Comparing them to the armed services is bollocks.
For each of the three services, their next day at work could be their last. Who were the real hero's of 09-11? Were was the military that day? Who was first into the Twin towers? It sure wasn't GI Joe and his platoon.

Give the firefighters and cops and ambo's their due. They do a fucking good job, a fucking dangerous job.

Ask yourself this simple question.
"If you had the opportunity to decide your career path again and only four occupations were open to you, Soldier, Fireman, Policeman or Ambulance Officer., which one would you choose?

I'm betting Fireman and Police Officer wouldn't be top of many lists.

But, who gets called out more, your local fire brigade, or your local military unit?

To all the firemen, cops, and Ambo's out there, KEEP IT UP, you're doing a fantastic job.

If it was your house with your loved ones inside you'd be glad there were well trained, well motivated men and women prepared to risk their lives to save what is precious to you.

Surely you want people to be turning up to an incident as fresh as possible, not shagged out cos some people felt they ought to be working harder/longer for their money.

Do the job for a month and then see if you think they have a cushy number.

And before you write my post off, I'll tell you a little about me.

I've done almost 20 years service in Motor Sport Fire Rescue. We're the guys you see at the major motor-sports events, dragging the drivers out of wrecked cars, often burning wrecked cars. Some of those 'fuel-cocktails" can be lethal. Some fuels produce toxic gases while combusting, one type of fuel (Methanol) when mixed with burning fiberglass can create Nerve Gas. I've seen my share of broken and busted bodies, had a couple of roasty-toastys, and faced a couple of very messy deaths.

We train with the metro squad here in Ch-Ch. Real Firemen, real hard work, but, really rewarding.

Oh yeah, and its all volunteer, no pay involved.

Why does the number of applicants have anything to do with a Job, porn stars get loads of applicants should we pay them less to

lots of people want to be firemen its a rewarding occupation and should be fairly paid.
