I know, I listened to it on yahoo radio. It almost looks like we might have finally found a quarterback :) But until we beat an SEC team, I'll have to temper my excitement :)

Edited to ad: Love the new Av, by the way :)

What you got is a good coach. The defense rocked!

I have heard for several years that Sly was a college football coaching legend who just needed a chance to show it. He has certainly instilled discipline, I think he has kicked more guys off the team in two months than Sherill did in his entire tenure.

Oh, I thought you meant football, not that weird derivative of rugby that you americans play, that you call football although you barely use your feet in the game...

got all excited then, thought we were talking world cup qualifiers etc. -> Not a good start for England, need to impress in Poland now, but so long as we beat Wales...

Its more to coaching than just calling plays. He's been around for a while, and Mississippi always had good players. Did you see how the defense was calmed down by the coach after that suspect call? The next play they committed a penalty, then the coach had a little chat with them and they got back into the game. That's respect.

I know you're not talking about that sissy game where you kick a volley ball into a net.

I'm talking about the NFL! There is no other game on earth more exciting.

MS kicked butt today. I love LSU but with the drop in players this year I think the ap poll has over rated the team. We will not be number one this year. I would of loved to have seen USC and LSU play last year for the championship.

In my opinion, and this only mine, I feel the SEC conference is the conference to always be dealt with. We always seem to cut each other out of national championships while the other conferences have lower rated teams that they're required to play for conference titles.

Of course we could always be Oklahoma and play low ranked teams and run up the score. Or even Nebraska . Give those teams an SEC schedule and I doubt they'd last long.

I agree. SEC rocks

Football -

is truly God's sport.

My team - KC Chiefs.

My alma mater (and my hope for an improved year) - KU Jayhawks.

:)

Yep, looks like neighborhood boys with nothing to do.

The NFL rocks, dude!

:D ok, so I was bluffing on the cricket - it was the dullest game I could think of (even beat contract bridge - go figure)

I still struggle to get excited about a sport where everyone is wrapped up in padding and you have two teams to play the whole game. However, I do not wish to derail the thread - not my intention - I suppose in a way it is an example of specialism - each player being specifically honed and equiped for the role they play...

Please enjoy what I presume is the begining of the new NFL season...

PS. God's sport? - Is that why he keeps being allowed time outs? ..
;)

Without protective gear, one tackle by a 300+ lbs linebacker would put you in a coma. They send guys to the sidelines even when they have on protective gear. It's full contact :)

Yep, College opener was today. I went to see a local high school football game yesterday. I'd forgotten just how fun they were. But we didn't have dancers shaking their asses in front of their parents like that....DAMN! If only I was 17 again.

Arsenal.

:p

Lou :D

P.S. Yep, I'm also talking proper footy, where they don't go out on the pitch in full battle armour. Oh, and if you wanna talk real man's game, think Rugby, my friend.

Aye. That's full contact. If someone doesn't get carried off the field with something dislocated, they didn't play it properly. :)

I've got nothing against the american variety. It looks really cool, and it's big fun once you know the odds and ends to the tactics. My only objection remains with the name. Sorry, but it defies all common sense to call it football.

Football (it's the sport of kings, better than diamond rings... football)

Fav's:

NYJets
Arizona Cardinals
Hometown Steelers

College:

Pitt.

I'll give soccer props though. It takes endurance and guts to play that game. Entertaining too. I'll stick to the American version however, for the most part.
J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!!!

KU? Thats a seriously tough division they are in. But if they do 6-6 than its a better year than last. Esp. if they overcome KSU, Muzzola or Nebraska.
