Argh....I can't believe we already have Christmas in the stores! I'm not ready for it! Didn't we just celebrate it?

All I want for Christmas is SANTA under the tree...hee hee! :D :p

Hey, it's all about the money right? Sooner they get it in the stores and in our heads, the longer that we have to buy and buy and buy.

I'm probably making my presents this year (paintings, lucky me) except for one or two. This most important present I already got from another craftsperson (another 130 bucks of mine that retail aint gettin'!).

Other than that, I'm about ready for it to be over.

I have my list made, does that mean I'm ready? Most of my gifts are made, so I just need to get busy...the other gifts have been ordered and are on their way...except for the kids I need to buy for...but they are easy...LOL

FUCK OFF!

Anyone mentioning Christmas befor November 15 will incur my wrath.

People who combine taking down their Halloween decorations and putting up their Christmas ones should be shot in their kneecaps.

Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way..........

God I can't believe it's so soon already. Anybody up for a trip to the far side of the Borneo Jungle so I can escape all that shit.

Clarification

I don't want to escape "it all".

Hell, I love Christmas. But at Christmas time not starting in the middle of fucking October.

There oughtta' be a law limiting it to December.

Expertise.

Trust me, when you've tried working in a store, who goes Christmas shopping in July. You wanna escape it all.
You'll never find joy in the christmas spirit. Christmas dinner will make you gag. And if you see an elf, you just wanna "buckwheat" the fucker. To use your own expression.

Ready for christmas yet ?

Betcha ass I am, ALL year round,,,

I am always ready to experience the festive mood that Christmas time brings on,,, the over all feel good feelings that seem to infest the time from just before Thanksgiving right up to Christmas day,,, the wonder and excitement of a child,,, the first snow of the season and staying up way too late just to watch it snow,,, hot mulled cider on a frosty night,,,

The anticipation of decorating and handmaking most of the decorations that I use,,, the baking and cooking that I do is considerable, and I love each moment of it,,, and I'll even say that I don't mind being awakened at 5 ish on Christmas morning by a child that just couldn't contain their excitment any longer, after all,,, Christmas for me is all about children, be they family, the neighbors, or some needy angel that had their name plucked from a wish tree,,, my step-daughters first grade class will be writing their letters to Santa soon,,, and I am the Santa that composes the replies to all 22 of them,,,

BUT I am NOT at all ready for the yearly blast on my senses from retailers,,, so I do my gift shopping all year round, and like some of you, I prefer to deal with smaller businesses or individuals instead of the Wal-Marts/malls

Christmas is definitely a children's holiday!

I come from a large family...I don't have children myself but... have 51 nephews and nieces and great-nephews and great nieces are poppin' out all over. And NO I am NOT in my 70's I am in my 30's by the time I'm in my 70's I'll probably be a great-great-great-great aunt. I am already a great-great aunt 2 times.

Anyway, my point is I do love the excitement in childrens eyes when they see the tree, the presents. My parents would celebrate on the eve of christmas so that christmas could be spent at home for each of the family members. We would let the kids open their presents and usually let the kids open our presents as well. They love tearing into the wrapping and it is so cute when they open it up and come running to you and say "look what you got!"

That part of christmas I love!

I don't relish the pushing and shoving in the stores! ARGH! And there is always someone who is scared to death you are going to grab something they want! You wanna yell at them "I just want frickin' past you and if you would let me past you can get whatever you're frickin' after!"

Of course it doesn't help that I don't like to shop anyway! Hmmmm, I am thinking about baking stuff to give away! Might not be a bad idea!

In my best Byng Crosby voice

Ummm...This doesn't have to do with Christmas but...

Earlier Xander used the phrase "buckwheat somebody". Please excuse my bare face, but what the heck is that? All I can picture is someone taking the long stalks of buckwheat and thrashing someone else's behind. Doesn't that belong on the spanking thread? And, if you have ever worked a haying season on a farm this would not be anything erotic, trust me.

not the least erotic

Nor is the harvesting of grains ( which buckwheat is one )the least bit erotic,,, must be a Danish thing,,,

Ugghh... it is making me all itchy and ewwwww. I would do anything to never, ever have to work the fields at harvest time again. And what's up with those scenes in the movies? The ones where they are rolling in the haymow making love. Fat chance of that sweetie.

Please don't flame me for this...

I did all-repeat all- of my shopping last January. The only thing left for me to do, gift wise,is the train layout that my hubby and I are making for my son. Which I am afraid doesn't count as we inherited it from my beloved Pop-Pop, thus we have all the pieces. I do have some crafts to do, I
have a number of baking projects-60 dozen cookies and a few gingerbread houses, but no last minute gift flurries.
I prefer to enjoy Yule with my friends and help my family celebrate Christmas. I work a few hours a week at a friend's store in one of our mega malls and my spouse up until today was also in retail so we avoid the mall, if at all possible.

nope, not a prayer in hell

Tried that ONCE,,, in my ignorance it sure sounded romantic,,,

even with a blanket we both ended up looking like we had a full body razor burn,,,

no thanks, never again for this ole boy,,,

Earthgoddess....YES, YES, YES...I much prefer to snuggle with my daughter, a mug of cocoa, a bowl of popcorn, and some Claymation movies...than to spend it out shopping. I am usually completely done, including crafts (excluding baking) by now...of course, this is the first time I've worked during the holidays in years...However, I feel that I'm on track to be done shopping in about 10 days.

I agree with Expertise though...we went to Best Buy at the end of September, and their bags already had Santa, or Christmas, or Happy Holidays...or some such nonsense...SEPTEMBER!!!!...I don't mind November so much, but September? Yeeeeeeeeesh
