It might be because the older I get the less patience I have, but I sometimes wonder whether I'm losing my politeness. I could once listen, with the patience of Job, to someone telling me something I'd heard many times, but now I just can't be bothered.

I actually say to myself "What am I listening to this drivel for?" when it gets to the point of being unbearable. I still try to extricate myself gently but I've got no problem with just walking away...

Is it me being impolite or am I just meeting a lot of opiniated, boring people who seem to think they have the answer to everything, and feel compelled that I should know the answer to everything as well, whether I want to or not.

Or is it just that I have been there, done that, got that particular T-shirt?...

:)

I am the most polite person in the world. i'll crap on anyone who sullies my sweet name.

Nah, never been, prolly never will be. Least.. I don't think. I dunno. A better thing to ask would be others opinions of what they think of others.

I'm polite.

I'm unsure, however, if politeness dictates one need listen, forever, to anything approaching "drivel". I listen to such stuff for a while and then i either gently turn the conversation to a more uniformly interesting topic or i find a perfectly plausible reason to excuse myself. Isn't that still within the realm of politeness?

I always write thank you cards, though, and have taught my kids to do so, too. I say "please" and "thank you" and "excuse me" when it's appropriate.

What's the difference, anyway, between being polite and having good manners? Both are designed to put your companion(s) at ease. Both are designed to ease the flow of social interaction. Are they analogs?

This is my thread and I'll decide the subject matter...OK?

Anyway what do you want, a Range War?

:D :p

Hey, FUCK YOU!!!!! Seriously., when you work around kids, you learn patience. But, I can still fly off the handle, once in a while. But, I'm CERTAINLY more patient than I used to be. Used to be, whenever I sat waiting for the computer to conncet, I would yell my head off.

I'm polite, however people usually realize it when they're boring you, and I will excuse myself.

I'm as polite as polite can be... and I can't believe you had the fucking gall to even ask me. What's up with that? Huh? Damn man... where your head at?

My good manners are still in place, it's my one on one politeness which I've lost...

Maybe it's because politeness is a split second thing whereas good manners is a pre-meditated thing...

Yes i am

i always try to be polite to everyone i meet. there are not too many people i cannot get along with.
i hold doors open for people when i go into a store, i get the door for the mrs when we go in or out of the house or vehicle.
i try and be polite on the phone.
if peole do irk me too much after being polite to them, then i will tell them to fuck off. (usually door-to door people or solicitors on the phone)
