Frankly I am that it is over and done with... I hate the pressure... I hate the expectations... I hate the media uproar.... I hate the commerciality .... And I hate that it points up I don't have anyone special in my life at the moment...

Feb 14? Was something special about it? Did I miss something?

I couldn't agree more. I detest Valentines day. To me, it's nothing more than a greeting card holiday designed to guilt people into buying sappy cards and paying way too much for flowers and jewelry. People should express their love (or lust, as the case may be) for one another all year, not just on one cheesy holiday.
I thought about making a comment about not having anyone special to have shared it with, but it just dawned on me that I did spend it with someone special...all of you. But yes, I'm glad it's over!

I notice it's mostly people who are single or in a long-term relationship who have any bitch with V-Day.

I can write (and have written) essays about the stupidity of the occasion of February 14, but the ugly truth is, if I had someone to splurge on, I'd do it in a red paper heartbeat.

I admit this year it hit me harder than usual... but even with a lover/husband I never remember a particularly pleasurable valentines day... I think I pick unromantic men...

Well yes I agree and we can get rid of Christmas, Easter, Mothers day, Fathers day, Queens birthday, Halloween, Australia day, Thanksgiving and the list just goes on and on.
All Useless Worthless Capitalist propaganda and commercialised claptrap.

Well put.

Like all such dates, it's an opportunity to show those you love just how much, the fact that you do this every day at every given opportunity is and should be taken as read......

St George, shame on you, your namesake was a historically romantic character. :)

You should emigrate to America, then.

We don't celebrate the Queen's birthday and "Australia Day."

Two less holidays.

;)
