Why else would successive American Governments support Israel?
It can't entirely be put at the door of the Jewish Lobby, they're not that powerful.
I can only conclude that America is pro-Israel because, quite simply, they're not Arabs. I can't think of any other reason.
Israel has no oil. Israel has nothing of worth to offer the world on a large scale. Israel has done nothing but take from America since it was formed. Israel doesn't even offer America military bases you can use.
And now Israel has given America a slap in the face over withdrawing from the latest incursion into Palestinian held territories.
And yet you continue to treat that country with kid gloves. A fact that does not go unnoticed in the world. Witness Crown Prince Abdullah's words to Bush during his recent visit to the States. And witness too the growing rift between the European Union and America, not I grant you entirely based on your Middle east policy.
I hope my statement can be proved wrong but, with American Governments constantly supporting a country which has always had a dangerously disruptive influence on the region, I don't think there is a strong argument against it.
At least I can't think of one...
