The Iraqis are using everything they can do defend their country.

Ahem, excuse me....
but the biggest threat to the "coalition" to date has been themselves. THey have a higher body count of 'friendlies' self caused than the enemy forces have managed to inflict.

Who is the real threat?

I seem to remember some feisty rebels not playing by the rules of European battle when confronted by another George's red coated army...

Not really a valid analogy. The Americans had little real success until they adopted the methods of fighting used in Europe.

Only real "guerilla warfare" was Francis Marion in South Carolina.

This is unfortunately true..

I remember when my son was a Marine, the concerns about the danger of those helicopters

Every war has friendly fire. Difference now is that the weapons are so lethal that they usually result in fatality.

As for the crashes of the choppers, probably 5-10 percent of the aircrew losses in WW2 were due to accidents.

An acceptable cost?
But then they hardly operate under civil aviation rules do they?
