Aol

you just gotta appreciate the irony of this...

Sigh,

Nice of you to "cut and clip", and your tongue in cheek "criticism", was recognized rather quickly.

If you want to insinuate that I'm an asshole, don't. Just come out and say it like you mean it!

The "AOL-Assholes on Line" comparison has been all over the net for years, long before they were Time Warner AOL, with good reason. It amazes me the number of people who have a dial-up ISP (with a home page and internet access) and then pay AOL another $30 a month, to provide them with...............

If you are going to spend $30 - $40 month, get cable or DSL and find out what the internet really is meant to be.

Thanks for the slam, I'll let that one go.

I used aol until I found cable internet-much faster but I still have aim just because I would hate to lose track of my chat buddies

I use AOL in the UK, for £14 a month
I get no pop ups, no spam, no advertising.
No problems getting connected but do get dumped about once a fortnight.
The only grievance I have is that they keep changing the access numbers, which means I have to keep updating their number on my low rate BT call plan.

Out here in the wilds, DSL or broadband aren't options.

Freeserve are the same except the calls are free.

The main trouble with Freserve is the time it takes to connect, sometimes 7 or 8 tries.

But I see that AOL are now advertising free calls.

Both my girlfriend and I had AOL at one time. As a server it is adequate. But god help you when you try and cancel service. I cancelled service online, via phone and with a letter. It took me three months, 18 phone calls and 25 letters to cancel service and they continued to charge me for another 2 months after first cancellation.

My girlfriend went through the same only they charged her for 9 months after cancelling it. She finally had to close out the checking account that it was being automatically deducted from to stop them from taking her money.

My advice download AIM for free it's cheaper in the long run.

I *HATE* AOL.

With a PASSION.

I cannot emphasize it enough.

With AOL, you get the worst service possible at the highest price, while they tell you what you can and cannot do and see.

They control you in every way possible to keep you as a customer. That's what it's all about. Hide the real world from you so they can keep their grip on the money strings.

There is a whole world of things you will never see if you are on AOL. Good things.

And if you are one of those people who thinks AOL is "great service", I have to pity you. Maybe you should give a real ISP a try sometime.

AOL makes me want to vomit.

What is the old saying about it being better to be THOUGHT a fool than to open your mouth and prove it?

Was AOL member from the start

I started with AOL in 94........................it was fine for awhile. But then came the timers and junk mail. You know what I'm talking about. But here's the WORST PART.....................they sell all the information they have on you. If you don't believe it..............just do some research and you'll see. For those of you who are happy with the service, I wish you all that you deserve.

Dial up Sucks......Long Live Cable.
