You're welcome. I figured he was somehow upset by my response in his thread (which at least was on topic), so this must be his attempt at retaliation. I'm not sure why he thought insulting several civilizations would accomplish that.

In Ojibway, it'd be "mindawe." I know that doesn't help any, but if you write an Algonquin story, I can help.

Thanks cloudy. It could actually come in handy, since I was looking to use a variety of languages that would have been around in the world for a long time.

Would Maori be a Pacific Islander language, or a dialect of aboriginal Australian?

There are some pretty good online translators out there. if you can find the root of the language, perhaps you can get a close enough approximation of how to translate "gluttony." Or perhaps a similar word such as "overindulgence," or "selfishness."

Just putting out some ideas . . .

I think the Maori language developed pretty much in isolation, much like the Australian Aborigine did (they are closer, genetically, to Pacific Islanders, but the language is much different).

New Zealand mostly. I actually tried a few online translators (and a few synonyms), but no luck. So I figures I'd try the AH.

Maybe. I actually just got a random burst of inspiration for something new, so I have plenty of time to figure it out before I need to use that particular character.

gishkishkenh = bitch, which is why it's my title at the mo.

(I was using "zhaawanakwad" a day or so ago, which is a cloud coming from the south)

So make your character Ojibway, instead of Maori. You could avail Cloudy for all the information you would need to make the character authentic.
