OK I think I got the hang of the vB codes but not sure how to add the images to my signature or to the message its self . Does it matter ..in my case that I dont have 100 postings yet ?

Well, no, in the sig it's not about post counts. But it's also not about vB codes... in the sig it's about real HTML tags. I am fairly sure WeirdHarold has this one explained better than I can over in the How To forum, so I suggest you check there.

The adding of an avatar is tied to making it to 100 posts.

to add an image from a website...

type

{img} and then the address of the graphic {/img}

(replace the {} with [] )

to upload one from your harddrive, choose the attach file option on the bottom of the post window.

what you need to do is save the image to your hard drive then use the upload feature on the post reply page.

Too big as in too many pixels wide/tall? Or too big as in too many bytes for an avatar? (Too big to attach?)

Since you "threw it together," you must be able to edit it. Resize the dimensions, or rduce the number of frames to get it down to a size that you can use. Animating your avatar is very limited because animations consisist of more than one picture and the total of ALL the pictures still can't be more than 20Kb when stored on disk. typical JPG avatar is about 7-10Kb. Non animated GIFs about 3-5K. That limits you to only 3-5 frames for an avatar that's 150 pixels.
