Anyone here been race drivin'?

Did demolition derby style rallycross for a while as a teen. Then I busted my POS car and couldn't afford the repairs, so I quit.

Guilty here. I only drove one night, but I spent about 10 years making a car go around dirt tracks.

To be any good, you must have a lot of faith in the guys or gals who work on the car. You also have to learn to ignore certain things you have had ingrained in you since beginning to drive- like letting off the gass when it starts to slide, brakes will straighten you out, etc. It can be a strange feeling waiting for the car to hook and go where you want as it slides to the top.

I also told my driver as I helped him strap in, "Go have fun. If it isn't fun, bring it in."

How many fatalities are there per year in all of professional motorsports?
