Anyone from the UK?

Local place where older guys meet to banter about manly things like wood whittling, latest flat cap fashions etc etc

There's a group up here called Andy's Man Club. I think it was set up in the name of a bloke who committed suicide and his family set it up so men could meet and chat about anything with no judgement.
And all is time, I thought that was a 3-legged dog 😲
😮 A five-legged Donkey, I'll have you know. Didn't you get the clue from the heavy breathing with a Yorkshire twang?

They do run a workshop to and can repair a lot of stuff that people may not ba able to afford to replace

That's a really good idea. I'm not sure about what men get up to when they're older, there are all sorts of things for women to get involved with. I think socially it's easier for women than men.

It helps having a big group of friends around as well.

Our local library runs repair cafe every couple of weeks and is a warm space in the winter
It's a shame you can't donate electrical stuff to charity, they want it all new, and it's electrical testing. End up selling stuff second hand or taking it to the dump which affects sustainability, increases landfill and takes otherwise good products away from consumers who may not be able afford it new.

There's a Hen Shed too @Yesok1

I think on one hand it's lovely. On the other it's despicable that people have to find warmth outside of their own homes.

I think, however the opportunity for people having to mix socially at an older age because of warmth is great. With dementia and alzheimer concerns, speaking to new people outside of your normal family groups has positive effects on the brain.

So, maybe whilst it is despicable, the health benefits may actually be more positive.

Our recycling centre has a special place for electricals, they get sent off to a specialist recovery place to recover lithium, copper etc

But, why can't the TV, for example, be given to someone else?

Are you putting us out to pasture, how old do you think we are?
Who said you have to be old, just cos I'm a bit older than you doesn't mean it wouldn't be enjoyable with the right company.
And I think the company I suggested would be phenomenal, don't you?

You are probably right, I was thinking more for elderly than young to middle aged, but why shouldn't they have groups?

But, I would love to go out with those ladies, can I handle them though, could they handle me.

I reckon wander would actually be the mischief maker, daisy would follow wander, and me and Ana would sit quietly think wtf. 🤣
