Welcome to LIT and good luck to you!

Who is HE?

Don't hate me MIssmuffet when I get off track from your personal.

Recently the Newspaper had an article and I would like to Quote. Guess who they are speaking of??

"Of all regional retailers, he is arguably the finest food retailing and marketing executive from the 19th and 20th century."

He has awarded $48 million to college scholarships to its employees as one way of retaining good workers.

Gave away 70 percent of his income last year.

"Runs a company that continually strives for excellence, strives for innovation, and is never complacent."

Over the years he and his wife have given more than $30 million to local Catholic elementary schools, and millions more to area Catholic high schools and Colleges.

WHO IS HE??

Well, Congrats Candlelite - whoever you are... was it in Sunday's paper? I will have to look it up!

It was Sunday's paper(6/16), but of the Rochester D&C.

Hmmm... Rochester, food industry... Danny Wegman??

Not Danny...

It's not Danny...he's too busy <sniff, sniff> doing lin...<sniff, sniff> (If you really are from Rochester you know where I'm going with that).

It's the old man Bob that is so charitable. He routinely gives money to worthy charities, though I find it funny that you mention him giving it to Catholic Schools. That should be singular -- he unloads truckloads of cash at Aquinas. I'm not saying thats a bad thing by any means -- I think its great. Bob being such a strong figure in the community is why I drive past Tops every day and go out of my way to stop at Wegmans.

You are not the only one in the area I have heard say the same thing. They do their shopping exclusively at Wegmans because...The stores provide you with more services. The checkouts are faster. The owner is giving back to the community that he will never be able to spend before kicks.

Yes Bob does dump truck loads of money at AQ. But he has also has contributed $25 million to aid children in attending one of six Catholic elementary schools located in the Inner City. His wife a grad of Mercy has just received a donation to help build on. (I think it was only 6 figures. How unfortunate it could be more and might just be the tip of the "Mother Load")

In a nutshell, I am just grateful I live in the community that is receiving this good fortune. And when someone asks why I don't "Shop at Tops", well I can give them millions of reasons.

Back to the Subject

All this talk about the food industry is making me hungry. Why don't we get back to the subject and find Msmuffet a date. :)

Hi MissMuffet, et all. I'm just on the other side of the border from you in Niagara Canada. I fall just under your qualifications, (I'm 29, turn 30 in October.) I am a local though, and always looking to meet new people for friendship, and possibly more if you're the right woman. :)

WNY

Another from the area, just saying hello.

Meet the age qualification, but am married.

Hello All !!

Hi all

Hi all,

I am a 23/m from Wyoming County and am glad to see there are other western New Yorkers on here. Anywho, if any women would like to talk feel free to PM me. I am open with age 18 and higher.

Vacation PLans

Happy to see your thread still going Msmuffett.

I have been away for awhile. I went camping in the Adirondacks last week and had GREAT weather. I could use another vacation. Couldn't we all?

Wondering if any of your subscribers know a great place (Day trip/ overnight) from Western NY that they would recommend? Either an attaction or a place to stay like a B&B might be interesting.

Sterling Renaissance Fair is something that always intrigued me. Has anyone ever attended?
