Happy to see your thread still going Msmuffett.

I have been away for awhile. I went camping in the Adirondacks last week and had GREAT weather. I could use another vacation. Couldn't we all?

Wondering if any of your subscribers know a great place (Day trip/ overnight) from Western NY that they would recommend? Either an attaction or a place to stay like a B&B might be interesting.

Sterling Renaissance Fair is something that always intrigued me. Has anyone ever attended?

Hi candle,
Welcome back!

Have you ever been to Belhurst Castle? It's lovely. And how about a wine-tasting tour? I've never done that, but would love it.
There's a spa of some sort in Geneva, isn't there? And another one in Skaneatlas (sp?).

I look forward to other WNYers adding their suggestions...I'm always looking for ideas!

Take care...

To candlelite and buttercup

Welcome Back Candlelight....

and YES I have heard wonderful things about Sterling - have never gotten there myself, but would love to go....

Geneva Lake has lots of B&B type resorts complete with wine tours, I know that, and of course, just over the border there is Niagara-on-the-Lake.

I have never heard of Belhurst Castle, but would love to hear more, so if you would be so kind, Buttercup as to send me the link, I would be forever greatful.

Unfortunately, I have not gone on too many get-a-aways, but it seems as though the three of us, have the same taste as to what we would like. Or HEY, you could always do a weekend at Six Flags Darien Lake if that is more your bag! LOL

Is Belhhurst Castle located in 1000's ISland Region? I have heard of it just not too familiar with its location.

It seems I go away for vacation instead of staying in our own backyard. Frequently I have had people from out of town ask about local attractions and I know less about it then they do. Niagra Falls, the George Eastman House, and even the Genesee Country Museum.(GCM is suppose to be great attraction for children if you are interested in Colonial America.) are all sites I have been asked about.

A site near the Falls that gets over looked is the Butterfly Conservatory that my young children just fell in love with. I never saw so many different types in my life and the butterflies fly all over you. Its definately a place to bring the camera.

Has anyone else ever been there?

the weather here today is gorgeous!

Love your AV

Missmuffett, I love your new Av. Very NIce. It almost fits my present signature perfectly.

I have been looking for my own AV. Anyone have a good suggestion??

~Peace~

Belhurst Castle is on Seneca Lake. Here's the link:

This site is pretty informative.

I love the Butterfly Conservatory idea. I've never been there, but I'm going to have to check it out this summer. Where exactly is it? Right near the falls, or further away?

And yes, the weather today is spectacular! I love days like this.

Take care...

Butterfly Conservatory

I have been to the Butterfly Conservatory 4 times! My children are 7 and 9, and they love it! We all love it! It is on the Canadian side, you have to travel around the gorge past the Floral Clock. It is in with the Botanical Gardens School and well worth it! I can't wait to go again.

Candle... I am working on an AV for ya... sit tight, hon!

speedracer

ps i still meet all you criteria

I thought I may have PM'd you... guess I was mistaken... tell me more, or PM me, unregistered (speedracer)

that castle in the 1000 islands is Boldt (maybe just Bolt?) Castle. it's not a complete castle, as it was never finished (the fella was building it as a gift to his wife and she died, so he gave up). it may be a replica of a scottish castle, i'm not sure...

anyway, i'm from buffalo but living in pittsburgh now. all this talk about wegman's got me excited though. i went there last weekend, and saw what all the "supermarkets" (giant eagle, bleh) around here lack.

and if anyone is looking for a getaway that gives them more of a night-on-the-town vacation, look no farther than toronto. i was just there last week, and my gf and i danced the night away, then went to a strip club, where we made out with a stripper.....but THAT is a different story altogether....anyway, there's a bajillion things to do, and great food, just wait for the garbage strike to end. it's almost as dirty as buffalo or pittsburgh now....you can go for a night out in any of its huge ethnic neighborhoods (chinatown, greek town, little italy, etc), go catch a show, or just do like we did and dance the night away. jeez, i'm a toronto fanatic....if only it wasn't in canada >8P

anyway, good luck in your search for a companion, msmuffet, i'm afraid i'm but 22 and the only girl i'm looking for is someone who might want to entertain my gf and i for a night or two...

hey candlelite......

unfortunately, the turkey legs at the renaissance fair are not deep fried.....i haven't tried deep fried yet, but they say that it is awesome!!!!

enjoy the area and let me know what you decide to do while here vacationing. the finger lakes off a wide variety of activities ranging from wineries, to hiking, to autoo racing at watkins glen. enjoy you vacation, whatever you decide to do!!!

be well,
speedracer

hey ms muffet.....

i just tried to pm you, but i believe i have to be a member of literotica.......

Welcome bobwebb! Enjoy LIT and as advice I have learned to be good... be careful not to get addicted.

Although I would not consider myself to be an expert, by any means, I would be glad to help...

Hiya CeeVee....

Ummm.... well next June may be too late you see, as I am a pretty good catch! and why, YES, I am the mother of a future artist, or a future surgeon, or a future president for that matter... As I feel my children are extremely talented... I have not commisioned them for this portrait... so sorry to disappoint you.
