Anyone for a nightcap?

I just started my great beer adventure recently. I'm not a beer person, but I'm starting to appreciate the taste finally. I got tired of ordering wine with chinese food, burgers or pizza.

Alright! A women who can enjoy the finer things in life. I would recommend your local trader joes for an ok selection at ok prices, the convince is the best. That is if you have one close by.

Always go for labels you have never seen before. And there is no “secret” to a good beer, when you have a good one you will know. It just takes a little time to figure out what type of beer you like.

Try a hefeweizen, that’s a good one to start out with.

Also, just like wine, pairing beer with foods will make it taste way different.

Enjoy

Heh heh. Yes, I admit I'm a complete food snob. Not in the fine dining sort of way, but eating at chain restaurants is a hard limit.

I think I don't like bitter so much, but I do like wheaty tastes. It's been years since I had a hefeweizen!

can't quite sleep yet...

had a glass of edna valley chardonnay earlier. I should start drinking something new to entertain y'all. I did buy a spanish red for this week. At the moment, back to water...I also found my cotton pj's! Hurrah!

Yawwwwn...

On the wagon during the week these days. It has something to do with suggested calorie and carbs reduction but it feels a lot more forced that suggested if you know what I mean.

Oh Mr MWY...me too...
Only drinking during the weekend. It actually feels pretty nice. I have a lot more energy and I am channeling "thinner, with lower triglycerides."

However, I broke my own deal tonight. I'm in my hotel in Chicago (did you hear that?) with nowhere to go for dinner so I ordered room service and a half bottle of Sonoma Cutrer Chard.

At least I know where I'm having breakfast tomorrow...thanks to Netzach...

ahem....
(actually, to be fair...you did give me some recommendations. But this trip is a fly-by - in tonight, out tomorrow. I enjoyed the 7-11 though.... )

Paulaner is the beer of choice chez us. I hardly ever do beer now, as I have no business playing with wheat at all. I miss it.

I'm generally a good girl with the drinkies. One glass of wine a couple times a week maybe. A cocktail every month at most. A few slugs of green chartreuse on my weekly sex date.

I would have preferred the White Hen, but 7-11 was closer. And I had to step over street people as it was, at 10:30pm.

One guy lying on the sidewalk told me I was hot, though. Hmmm... Naaah...

Oh...and the damn el seems to be running right next to the window of my rather expensive hotel room.... grrr...

I'll be interested in your review of Svea.

By the way, for all Lit foodies: take a gander at chowhound.com. It's a social network for foodies that I discovered on a recent project. All I'll say is that I have to ration my time there very carefully or I might never get work again. It's as addicting as fresh donuts.

Ah yes, chowhound. I know it well. It's useful in many places, but I don't always agree with the posters in my locale.

Well, I'm afraid to report that I didn't make it to breakfast. Other activities captured my attention instead...and then there's that pesky job....

The next time I'm here I'll stay with a friend in Lakeview...I think I'll have a better shot of actually making it to Svea then and besides, it will be more enjoyable with a fellow food enthusiast.

And thanks for the Chowhound remender...I always forget about that site.

I read somewhere that chowhound has two million posts of user-generated reviews and commentaries on restaurants.

I'm the same way, but over time with sites like that you come to know whose views are most like your own (not unlike Lit, which is simply a different brand of social network).
