Anyone for a nightcap?

*sigh* I miss seafood. And it's the one thing I can't cook for beans anyway - I'm paranoid and I always end up with goodyear tire.

I find that most Michelins are more tender.

(and the shrimp in question were frozen anyway)

Had wine, tsing tao beer and fab chinese. Wow, so good. I've been able to enjoy beer lattely.

Me tired. Emotionally exhausted.

Just got back from a one day trip to Martinborough -- the one wine region of New Zealand I had yet to visit. Mostly boutique wineries, which means double the price I would normally pay for wine, but wines you wouldn't normally find elsewhere. We had to stop after five wineries, as I had already blown my budget!

Anyway, well worth the visit and we'll return with more time (and money) to spend.

Oh dear. A bit toooooo much wine and beer and staying up late.

Btw, I need to work on my manners when I'm tipsy. Here's my convo with the bartender at the event last night (post beer and chinese food).

Me: What wine do you have?
Bartender: We have chardonnay.
Me: No, that one. Oh thank god, Estancia. (Hi, could I be MORE of a yuppie?)
Bartender: We have Zinfandel too.
Me: Oh really?
Bartender: Yes, white zinfandel. It's sweet.
Me: Ack, no, God no!!!! I hate sweet wine. I don't drink white zinfandel! (because he should know that by looking at me in my ultra-sophisticated plaid mini, black tshirt and black chucks and, uh, hair in two ponytails ). Please, the Estancia.
Bartender: Uh, that one? (points to the other red)
Me: No, the Estancia! Right there!

Nice.

Ooh, fun!

I think she is saying she likes her beer in a latte glass.

And yo, I totally drank that tsing tao straight from the bottle.

Oh man, that food was sooooo good. Order beef chow fun "dry," btw. It means both not dripping in sauce and, hey, I may be white, but I appreciate real chinese food. All that in one word!

We also had some sort bean curd stuffed with shrimp and sweet black beans, and a fried oyster casserole, which sounds weird but was hella good. Although Mister Man wasn't into that dish. Whatever.

Ooh, fun!

Very much so. I'm not normally much of a pinot noir drinker (too wussy for me), but I came back with 5 different bottles of it from 4 different wineries. Obviously Martinborough is the spot in NZ for pinot!

The stunner though was one place that did a jaw-droppingly good "methode traditionalle" (can't call it Champagne unless it's from a particular area in France, of course.) It was expensive, but I still bought two bottles.

We didn't even get through half of the wineries around there. So a longer trip will be planned, methinks. But I will have to be very very firm with myself and not purchase wine.

Really? What's wrong with pinot? I guess it's more of a fruity wine (I mean, literally, not like yo, you a fruit? <--- douchey super-het voice), but I like it for some dishes. It's not like offensive fruity to me, like merlot.

There's probably nothing wrong with pinot. It's very new to the NZ market as a locally grown wine, so most of the vines are less than 10 years old. Apparently that makes quite a difference.

I have been making a concerted effort to like pinot over the last couple of years, and have started finding ones I like. So that's all good. What was surprising about Martinborough was every pinot I tried, I liked.

Ah, makes sense.

Anyone know where to get a jewelled butt plug? I googled it, but didn't like the one that came up. I like jewelry! What could be wrong with more jewelry? Then again, I don't run around naked. No one will see the jewelry except Mister Man. Hmm. Decisions, decisions.

despite lack of sleep, day at home with kidlet was fun.

Had a few glasses of Barbera tonight. Can't remember the maker.

Am stressed about money and family stuff. I can say it's nice not to be stressed about divorce stuff! Am also totally kicking ass at work right now though. That's a plus. Sometimes when I'm stressed I can't focus at work, but sometimes I throw myself into it full throttle. Anyhoo.

Anyone else up?

Oh, I am very up. I'm gonna be up until 4am... and then my alarm is going off at 9:45am tomorrow.

woohoo.

This week could have done without the radio show.

Yeah man, its cool, I hype it up in the Boston Beach Party thread which is probably up somewhere on the first page here...

Its really fun, but this week I am just too exhausted

My sleep schedule is all fucked. I almost want to never go to an event again, just because I stay up too late. I am slightly neurotic that way.

I'm drinking coffee in my new thermos to go mug!

Coffee is really king at 3 am when you have to push ahead.
That's when the stuff you just slurp all day comes through for you.

I missed wine when I was super sick, but I missed coffee more.

Syd, the show was awesomeness.

Yeah rich colorful nice beans. I can get by on eight o'clock but it's getting old. Their shipping is high but I ordered on Monday and it came Wednesday.
