Anyone for a nightcap?

PM sent. Now, of course, you've signed on to be my nutritionist and personal trainer. I hope you're up for the job. ;)

Wouldn't be the first time. Frankly, I could impress people with before and after shots of my buddy AP. He really got some great results off of the plans I put him on.

Yay, I love catching up here when there's been discussion. Oh, and I feel a lot better after sleeping 10 hours. Much less maudlin.

Anyhoo - I love me some strength training. Totally changes your body. I do yoga and I have 5 and 10 lb weights.

Now, Homburg, can you design me a program where I just use those weights in my home and I do like 10-15 min daily? Because I am one tired and busy chick/mama.

PM me, and we'll talk. You're gonna need more iron though. It ain't strength training unless it's heavy.*

* - "Heavy" here indicates weight in relation to your strength levels. A simple set of plate adjustable dumbbells would work perfectly. Various bodyweight movements are also "heavy". It is all relative.

Erm, I did one of those squat/pushup thingies last night and it was hard. I may need to work up slowly!

ETA: Tonight I'll do 10 min though, and tomorrow as well.

Good on ya! Make sure the jump at the end is a good one. A plain old squat isn't going to do but so much for you, but the explosive jump will do the business.

Do a Ladder up to 4 (1 rep, rest 30 sec, 2 reps, rest, 3 reps, rest, 4 reps). It'll be easier on you, and you'll get your goal of 10 without wanting to die or losing quality on the reps. Ladders are good stuff. As time goes on, you can do higher numbers, or start at higher numbers. Lots of ways to do it, and playing with the numbers like that helps to prevent boredom.

Oh, I did forget the jump. Thanks. Ok, ladders, right.

Looking forward to a crisp Australian chardonnay and some spicy hot crab soup tonight.

We're going through so much smoking loon around here I think we need to rename our wine cellar the aviary.

Aha! Someone else admits to drinking Smoking Loon (Safeway, on sale at under $6.00) Yeah!

And, oh, btw, MR MWY, where's my 40 degrees? Its freaking cold here!

Sorry, the warmer weather is coming in over the weekend.

We don't have Safeway around here, but I still like the prices for SL where I shop.

Wow, is it all that?

I'll have to go over to the dark side and try it.

Trumpeter Malbec is my thing lately.

Your cooking sounds so much better than mine, lately. I CAN cook, it's a question of doing it.

Oh I have a question:

I seem to be able to pick the 9-14 dollar bottle of RED that makes me happy, is there such a white?
I usually wind up feeling rather blah about the whites I pick. It being spring/summer sometime here eventually, I want to gear up for my seasonal switch.

I have found one pink wine I like, don't laugh. Marques De Caceres Rose. It's a Spanish table wine, and therefore there's nothing silly or fruity about it, it's just wine you would want with paella on the hottet day of the year.

It IS! What's funny is usually I'll say, hey, heard of this wine or that one, and some agree, some don't. But Smoking Loon is one of those bargain wines that everyone I know goes YES.

Which dark side? Safeway?

Thank you another white wine drinker! Everyone I know is exclusively a red drinker and it annoys the shit out of me. Anyhoo.

What do you like in a white? Trimbach - and there's another one - Hugel, I think - alsacian whites that are very dry, good and cheap.

There's a brand called Pepi Pinot Grigio that I like (don't laugh, it's good!). Geyser Peak Sauvignon Blanc is good.

It depends on what I'm eating. I like bone dry, I like really mineral-y Viognier, I like semillon that is fruity to the point of silly sometimes.

Thank you thank you! I've seen the Pepi around a lot, I'll give that a whirl.

Outside your price range, but I have found that Barefoot makes a very drinkable chardonnay (it's usually a dollar or two below the Smoking Loon price). You might find it a tad sweet for your taste, but I like its drinkability without being paired with anything but conversation.

I also like whites that are Death Valley dry so I'll be looking into some semillion and viognier soon.

Edna Valley Chardonay.

The Australian whites give me a headache: I always drank red when I lived in Australia. Now a crisp New Zealand chardonnay... yeah, then you'd be talking!
