Anyone for a nightcap?

I found a bottle of gin! And one of the stores flew in some celery. I bought one stalk. I ate half yesterday and I will eat the other half tonight! Happy days indeed.

Oh and some nice folks from the UK left me a bottle of *real* Canadian maple syrup. My cup overfloweth!!

(Still no ice cream, of any flavour, for at least another week. Sigh).

MWY, it's not like you to be controversial. Confusing yes, controversial, no. What's the scoop?

I wasn't aware of being controversial. And the scoop is Neapolitan.

You can make your own ice cream with milk, sugar, vanilla, some ice cubes and a few zip loc bags (or a small and a large coffee can.) Get some neighborhood kids involved to do the work, tossing the bags, or kicking the cans, and its really pretty easy (and delish, too).

(Oh, and some rock salt...I've used kosher salt).

And I would honestly prefer the spicy peach salsa...
But I have always liked high contrast flavors in my food.
Actually, I think that might be my fetish. Who needs sex? Give me food that...

....never mind.

spicy peach salsa plus any protein sounds fine and dandy.

I found - it was right under my nose - the only Israeli falafel joint this city seems to have tonight.

Went in, giant mess of pasty children and women in gaudy bling and jeans skirts and lots of head coverings, a very garrulous bunch. I forgot where I was entirely for an evening. M was happy.

Now I think we both have a touch of agida, though.

And ended it off with rugelach.

You are very sweet, LB. Thanks!

Chuck suggested this to me once, failing to comprehend how very bad I am with any kind of food making and the limited selection of even basic supplies here.

I can still get Heart bars at the local shop, thank Cod, but I just like having my little tub in the freezer to pick at late at night, while I read.

Today I started perusing hotels in Auckland. I love planning new escapes! They have this thing there where you can jump off the top of one of the highest buildings in the city. (It's basically a descender, something we used on set for some high falls). Very cool. That's on the "must do" list!

Added: Just finished the celery. YUM. So crunchy.

Ummm... I think you missed my point. Have the neighbor kids do the work. You just supply the ingredients. Assuming those few ingredients are available.

Need some soda? Now?!!! (Sopranos, for those not paying attention).

This gentile loves rugelach and has even made it. I'm not a big dessert eater, so one little one of these is usually enough to satisfy my little bit of sweet tooth. Of course when I make them myself, I don't really observe any rules....

(really, I don't observe my own rules, either...)

I don't even know the rugelach rules, other than don't swirl them around in bacon.

And one works for me too, and I am a dessert maniac. They're just like that.

Smoking the bird tonight....sauvignon blanc this time around. Goes awfully well with spicy hot crab soup. :D

Finally opened the bottle of Chenin Blanc that's been sitting on the vanity for the past week.

hold on now - not so fast

is that "e" before "i" except after "p"?

 I get so confused with the arbitrary and capricious rules of english spelling

Oh, pfffft!

Shank, as the resident linguist, may I let you in on a secret? Since pffft is an onomatopoetic adaptation without formal working rights in the dictionary, you can spell it any fucking way you wish. :D

Finishing a tidy little bottle of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay.

I see we have abandoned the "no drinking on school nights" rule pretty consistently this week.

I am drinking lemonade, homemade from lemons from my own tree. It hit 100 degrees here today...a bit early if you ask me...and lemonade seems right. I might add some vodka or somesuch to my lemonade later, but I have to do laundry still. I don't want lose focus and mix colors and whites.

And Yanks, that AV continues to disturb me.
