Anyone for a nightcap?

Hey, move over everyone and pour me a double of whatever is handy.

Just got some bad news about my dad. He's in the hospital and not doing well. I won't bore you with details but suffice it to say I'm feeling very, very, very far away. At least I have Chuck to keep me smiling.

Salud, amigos.

Hey LB,

I said I would post on here when I had better news re:my dad. Still not out of the woods but blood pressure is stable. So...small...whew.

I think a martini is in order. I'm buying the first round. Anyone?

I'll have a hit of The Macallan, if you don't mind. Glad to hear that your father is doing a little better. :rose:

Keroin,
I'm so happy to hear there is a bit of good news, even if it isn't perfect news.

I've been away from Lit for a few days so just catching up tonight.

No drinking as of yet. Too tired to drink, actually. ;)

Change it back! Change it back!!

Ha ha! Some people actually like my flowers...others didn't really get the momentary diversion. I'm happy that you did. :rose:

Did I miss a flash of the LilyBart version of my chest av? Damn! ;)

Enjoyed a welcome glass of Glenfiddich last night in the company of a couple dozen Litsters. Some of the costumes - and not only the women's - were a sight to behold.

You hung out with people from Lit? Wow. Look at you, Mr. Social Butterfly.

I was more a wall flower than a butterfly, as I'm a bit shy, but there's close to three dozen Litsters who have convened in Chicago for the weekend. Much of the evidence of the planning and such is in this thread.

Last night's social event was a costume party. I must say that the inventiveness and creativity in the crowd was on full display: several folk were wearing stunningly gorgeous costumes. Everyone is friendly to a fault and I had a blast chatting up people from the west coast, the southeast, northeast, and even England. About half of the attendees are from the Midwest and the rest came in from further away.

So, tell us about your costume...pictures?

p.s. my temporary AV was nowhere close to the LB version of the shirtless Yanks

I'm sipping a glass of Chenin Blanc and watching Helvetica while mapping out a design for something... the guy who describes himself as a typo-philiac sounds so.much.like.me.

(He's right - brilliant font, as long as there's enough white space surrounding the text to weight it properly. Crowd it? Total nightmare.)

I left before the group picture was taken. About all I did by way of a costume, though, was to put on a bad wig and refuse to smile, even as I was buying drinks for sweet young things. ;)

You Av is confusing me again...

If it's confusing you, who know which end of the whip is mine, imagine what it's doing to Keroin, who refuses to admit that my av speaks to her at all.

Had some meritage this evening from the vinyard of one Engelbrecht Els. He's better known as the golfer from South Africa named Ernie. It was decently drinkable but it barely broke par.
