Anyone for a nightcap?

Perhaps not. In any event, I bought some and it's quite lovely for inexpensive crystal. And it truly is crystal. Rings just wonderfully and looks gorgeous with some ruby red merlot inside.

Will you please stop mentioning Merlot in my thread! Ok, it's not my thread. All are welcome. Except for Merlot. Too fruity.

I like the stemless glasses from Reidel, but it's all quite nice.

Tonight Mister Man and I are enjoying blood orange cosmos. Good, but not as orgasmic as the first time around. Too much lime. :(

I mention merlot because it's what we had in the new glasses (and they're stemless too btw). My own preference is for cabernet sauvignon and shiraz but I'm not the only wine drinker so we take turns.

Malbec obsession continues. Trapiche '05.

I pour it into coffee mugs and already-drunk POM tea glasses.

I must be the cheap wino of the bunch.. my wine of choice is Earnest and Julio's Cafe Zen. I tend to like the fruitier wines myself.

I just lost all respect for you. First of all, it's probably Cafe Zin, as in Zinfandel. Second, this is similar to white zinfandel. Gag. Worse than Merlot. Seriously: bad boy. No. Stop. I, just, NO.

Okay.. you were right - it is Zin.

And I like it and it seems that I'm not alone..although the reviewer turned his nose up at it (probably a pretentious blue blood) others wrote in favor of it.

My favorite is Chardonnay.

For a cheapish bottle, Burning Leaf is good, nice, crisp, light apple flavor with an oak finish.

I agree with you on the merlot thing.. but I'm not a red wine drinker

I'm not a huge chardonnay fan, but it doesn't inspire dry heaves the way white zin does. It just needs to be crisp and dry, not overly oaky. Edna Valley is one I drink on occasion.

When you feel like dropping a couple extra bucks on a bottle of chardonnay, try some Bonterra. I've seen it at my local Trader Joe's and it used to be on the shelves of our grocery store so I know that it's fairly widely distributed. For comparison purposes, it's about $13 here in the Chicago area where the local taxes on such sinful goods as wine are notoriously high.

Smoking Loon cab is a real find. Redeems you on the Bonterra rec. Oh no she didn't! Yes I did.

Ancient Vines Cline Zin. One up from their absolute bargain basement zin. Me likey!

You care not for Bonterra's products? I don't know Ancient Vines but I'll file away the name and look for it.

I could be full of shit right now, but I think I had their chard once and didn't like it. I can totally picture the label and everything, but there's a chance my memory is off this once (just this once). I am going to have to try it again now, aren't I?

Cline is the name - their Zin is often mentioned as one of those best bargain wines.

I'll look for it. Will be in a good wine shop tomorrow or the next day, in fact.

~~Wanders in~~

I can't drink wine so can I have vodka or rum in a cooler form instead??

My wine of choice is any good red. I know there are a lot of those who don't like it, but it's my favorite. The darker, the better.

Hard liquor-vodka for this Slavic girl :D

But since it's a nightcap I'll have some Sheridan's

My nightcap of choice tonight (which I am proudly drinking right at the moment) is Sweet Vermouth with a wedge of lemon.
