I've had it but never cooked it.

I can either:

broil it with a little lemon and butter
or
bake it with chopped tomatoes and herbs.

Any other serving suggestions?

I need to get dinner started in about 15-20 minutes.

I haven't, though it's a fish I've been wanting to try. The times I've seen it prepared on shows they seem to broil or sear it. I think personally from what I've been told/read the butter sauce would be a better complement. Maybe?

Tell me how you ended up doing it and how it turned out though, ok??

Hope this helps a little.

"Monkfish has a very lean delicate-flavored white flesh with a firm texture and no visible flaking. Despite claims that monkfish is the "poor man's lobster," it is mainly the texture and not the taste that is somewhat reminiscent of lobster. Monkfish is versatile in the kitchen and can be prepared in a number of different ways. Moist heat cooking methods like frying, baking, steaming, or poaching tend to work best. Cooking methods like broiling can cause monkfish to loose excess moisture and get tough and dry if it is overcooked. Because of its firm texture and mild tast, monkfish is also a great choice for seafood soups and stews.

But i bet it tastes good

Cheers kids, you know, right after I posted this my mom called, and then my husband came home, and I didn't get to check back. But I'll file it away for future reference.

Ultimately what I did was chop the herbs, throw them in some melted butter that I brushed on the fish, and broiled it with some slices of lemon.

Was delish! :D

Thanks again

So Peachy, in your opinion is it worth the $13.99/lb (local price) to try it?

well depends how much you like fish and how confident you are in your cooking ability. I've always really liked it when I've ordered it out, and we had some in fresh at the shop where I work, and I get 25% off, so I figured I'd give it a go. Cost 22.99 a kg before my discount tho so yeah, it ain't cheap.

Thank you. I keep trying to talk my hubby into it, but he's far more practical than I am! =) I really have to try it one of these days!

Peachy, I ALWAYS say, go for the carp, you can't go wrong...
