This is my first post here so bare with with me.

I have been writing a story but it has been kid of train of taught,
i stated with a general idea of were i wanted to go with it.

The problem is now i know exactly were the story is going and how it will end and i have lost intrest in writing it.

Does this happen to anyone else?? And if so can anyone give me some tips to get myself motivated again.

It might be important to note that this was my first attempt at writing erotica.

Read one of my stories. That will motivate you cuz its so much easier to write better than me.

Set it aside and come back to it later.

Welcome. :rose:

The Grammar and Spelling Police will be along shortly. Get your body armor ready. I recommend full MOP gear.

Welcome to AH Cobra. Writing erotica is no different than writing anything else. You lost interest because the plot and ending you came up with were weak and didn't do enough justice to what your original intent was. Go back and look at the plot and scenes to see if there is enough sexual tension happening to warrant further reading. Where can you create more conflict or bring drama to a conversation during a scene. Are your characters weak?

Sometimes it is good to put it down for a bit to get a better perspective on it. One thing I would highly recommend is to try the Writer's Challenges and get different writing perspectives. A good editor is hard to find that's not already swamped with writers, but seek one out and get some tips on what you're doing now and where you can improve.

The lovely lady above who likes to *snerk* is someone I would recommend in getting to know, as she posts most of the challenges and assists many people, like myself, in improving their writing.

Hang in there Cobra, it'll all come together and in the mean time, get to know everyone and enjoy your time here.

Hell, that happens all the time, but for me its because some new idea comes along that i just HAVE to write. I have some multi chapter ones that need to be completed, and some that i left the posibitly of continuations on that i havent finished. Frustrating to readers i'm sure, but my mind takes me where it does. I've never been able to force it to go back to a story line it didnt want to play with.

Oh honey, you say the sweetest things to these new writers.... You can be more honest that that. Body armor.... for the gramar police here the only defense is to dig a hole and climb in. The flame throwers are the real threat!

Grammar police have arrived. Now what's all this, then? Quickly, before the spelling police arrive. I have an outstanding warrent.

Cobra, my sympathies. I've been writing stories for three years now for the purpose of posting them here. I made my submission as recently as four days ago.

One hundred stories, yet I couldn't finish them. Or some that did get finished, but they're all precluded by others necessary for the whole that I can't finish. I started fresh with a new character that could stand on his own who would interact with many of my pre-existing stories from elsewhere, so perhaps his personal adventure will generate interest in them, which will get people bugging me to finish their stories.

My reccommendation for getting back on the horse is always to think about sex: If you like writing about sex, then have your characters have sex. To get interested, watch porn. See your characters starring in the feature. Make it your own scene. I say the best stories you should post are the ones you love reading and you love fapping to. As for the rest, not everything should go on Literotica.

Don't be afraid to keep some things for your private collection and concentrating on submitting only your very best work. Many authors concentrate on volume rather than quality, but there's no reason you should. Don't be impatient to post. Like I said, I practiced for three years before I got good enough (for myself) to post anything.

Imagine it getting optioned up for a best movie and you making millions while whisking off to Geneva to accept the Pulitzer for fiction. :)

I think it is best to finish it poorly rather than to quit. If you can discipline yourself to finish, as best you can , then put it away and write something that is different.

After you have become saturated in the new story and finally finish it, then come back and edit the first story.

It's bad to have too many balls in the air.:D

I suspect this clown.....no, I'm not gonna say it; I made a resolution and its too soon to abandon it.

What in hell is a 'warrent'? Is it like a rabbit hutch you rent out?

Wow people!!, i didnt expect such a reaction so soon, thanks for the support :D

Maybe i didnt make myself clear its the fact that i know were the story is going thats reason no longer want to write it. As in whats the point in finishing it if i know whats going to happen ;) lol

I think it myght just be the chore of typeing it out lol, id be grand if i could copy and paste the finished project from my mind :p

There's a simple solution to the 'uninteresting story' problem. Just cut and paste the following to the end of whatever you've written so far:

"Suddenly, a gigantic asteroid larger than any ever seen before, loomed on the horizon. It was certain that not only would all of humankind (make appropriate adjustments for non-human stories) be destroyed, but the Earth (adjust accordingly if an off-world story) itself would be completely obliterated in a matter of seconds."

Please give me credit when you use this. Thanks, Lisa

I tend to just set it aside and wait for inspiration to strike again. It comes in cycles for me, so thats what works. Just try to figure out your rythm.

Unfinished stories on the hard drive are like miscellaneous junk in a drawer; they're not useful now but they might be one of these days. ;)

In re: losing interest in a story because you know how it ends. I thought that was a requirement of writing knowing how the story you're writing will end...unless you change your mind halfway through or something and decide to do a rewrite and...

I need a drink.

Leave that story and forget the ending. Start another one and finish it. Come back to the original story. Read through what you've already written and pick up where you left off. And finish it!

I have the same problem.

I have a large number of incomplete stories filed on my hard drive. I look at every one of them at least once a quarter. Sometimes, but rarely, I'm then motivated to finish one or two.

More often, they give me ideas for NEW stories.

In desperation, I used some of the stories in my story The Worst Chain Story Ever Ch.01 by making the hero tell them while the heroine is making up a drink. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. After all, it is "the WORST"!

Try wanking to the scenario. If you don't come, it may not do it for anyone else.

If you do come, it's worth the drag of writing out, because readers may too.

If you don't, what change would get you off? Write that instead.

That's pretty crude, but might be a touchstone.

If it used to work, but is getting old, perhaps it's time to drop that one and move on to the next.

Sometimes it's a race between how fast you can write and how soon a fantasy goes stale...

Not only have I lost interest in the stories I'm writing, I've lost interest in my life, although the new neighbor's life has become extremely interesting, especially when she leaves her bathroom curtain open...

Cobra, as a tip to better writing, take a look at the title of this thread you posted and ask yourself, 'What is wrong with this sentence?' Once you've analyzed it, you'll see where some of your reluctance to finish comes from.

lol, right well as for the mistakes i made in writing the title aswell as the original post i was in a rush and didnt pay attention to what i was typping, dont judge my writing on this post :D

One thing i will say though, i tend to use spell check quite a bit. English was never my strongest subject in school. Im just a guy with some ideas i find intresting. Chances are my gammar and even my spelling will never be perfect.

I know all of this already it is not this thats holding me back from finishing my story.

It wasn't so much the spelling mistakes, although I can see quite a lot of them, it is the use and choice of words, I was referring to. It would be a big help in your writing to do some challenges and learn some techniques to improve the areas you're lacking in. You'll find your writing will improve and your interest will be piqued by what you read back later.
