Anyone here with an engineering degree?

Did you like or hate your job/career?

Could you apply your skills as an engineer outside of work? Like in everyday life?

What was your highest salary?

What kinds of things did you design/build?

why is everything other than the first question in past tense?

Why Mike you going to college?
College is easy
1st thing you do is find what classes most of the football team takes enroll in them. There always easy and gets your basic classes out of the way.

Answers in order of the questions:

First question - Yes.
Second question - Like.
Third question -At times.
Fourth question - Well enough.
Fifth question - Several 'things' the masses utilize.

I'm not a engineer, but I did run a train on Susan Slaughter.

My son is 26 and very well paid as a manufacturing robotics engineer. He was just sent across the country for a week to work on his factory's sister company since there is no one else qualified to work on their special equipment. He's getting married in August and has been able to get a home-loan but hasn't found the perfect property yet here in the same county where I live. He's buying a house with no help from family or his fiance. He started out with RC car racing as a kid and eventually got into Battlebots. He got three AAs and was able to work in the industry before he finished his full degree. So he knows metallurgy, electrical, and mechanical, as well as design. He's built things like custom yacht parts, and even made fencing swords since that's his other sport. He's now a Battlebot event coordinator who still competes and has been on TV though he doesn't run the really big ones. They have their own team youtube channel which is nice so that I can watch sometimes. He loves his career and doesn't have to dress up very often. He has no tats but loves his longish Mowhawk.

I Are An Engineer!

Hi...

1. I have a BS in general engineering (1975) and am self-taught in electronics to the technician level.

2. My career was OK for a while but I hate my current job. Getting ready to retire.

3. Yes, I think so. Taking a lot of math and science courses taught me to think about problems logically and to formulate sequences of steps to solve them.

4. I am currently not salaried. I am paid by the hour with time-and-a-half for OT. I am also a member of a labor union. I work in New York City for one of the TV networks. Base salary about 89K plus OT. Highest total earnings was about 135K.

5. At one time I designed and oversaw the construction of video systems for broadcast. In my current position I don't design anything. I provide technical support for a TV studio.

Extremely large hoards of people are going to engineering school. Only a tiny percentage of them land jobs upon graduation.

If there is a single job opening for an engineer, 100 engineers show up.

Most engineering jobs are being robbed from US citizens and sent to other countries so employers don't have to pay them half as much.
