I'm not so sure. I saw a british TV programme recently where this was actually done. The subject was hypnotised and conditioned over a period of time and on a certain trigger pulled out a gun and shot his intended target.

Of course, you can never know how much of a set up the whole programme was but they had some noted people involved, Stephen Fry was the victim. You can probably find it on you tube.

Hypnotism real?

People can and are conditioned to believe many things. Political beliefs, whether the color of your skin makes a difference to the quality of your mind, whether god exists or what god or gods exist. People war against one another, kill one another, and believe it's right.

What do you believe? Do you question your beliefs or the ones you were taught as a child? The most widespread of them all is do you believe in god?

Is hypnotism a form of belief? Can it be functional short term as well as long term? Is it different from conditioning?

This is a wide open field with many beliefs and not a whole lot of science.

I learned hypnosis in graduate school 30 years ago. I use it all the time, mostly on me, but it works on anyone, and there's no such thing as IT DOESNT WORK ON ME. It does. All I need do is discover what motivates you. That is, what sort of bait will you gobble up, on sight, without hesitation. WHAT WOULD YOU DO FOR A KIT-KAT BAR?

I disagree that hypnosis works for anyone. I've read articles and seen several seminars about it. In essence, it will work if the subject wants it to work. It's much like the placebo effect with drugs. Just as many people have become "drunk" with non-alcoholic beer or have had relief from certain pains or have been cured of erectile dysfunction with sugar pills because they "believed" it would work. Hypnosis will help a person quit smoking or become more outgoing or remember things in the past because they want to believe and the thought that they are being ordered to do it or suggested to do it by someone with the "power" gives them the strength and confidence to do whatever is suggested,

The notion of being "conditioned" or "brainwashed" to do certain things is indeed real and again, it's a mind control thing brought about by believing that someone else has power over you for whatever reason. and that you will obey because you have no power to resist. People have been controlled by others in a power position for years whether it's political leaders, parent figures, or religious leaders. Would you say that Hitler "hypnotized" an entire population of Germans or that fear and the recognition of his absolute power allowed many people to be brainwashed and "believe" in his message?

As for the original question, I've long had fantasies going back to my youth of being able to hypnotize women or have a secret "pill" that I could slip to girlfriend to make them do various sexual acts with various trigger words. The fact that I learned much later in life is that many women semi subconsciously WANT somebody who will utter the right words or create the correct environment to make them feel that they are "powerless" and will indeed do what is requested or suggested. But here again, the particular partner has to be "into you" and basically want to do it, perhaps just needing the proper gentle and smooth coaxing. If she really doesn't like you, forget it...... unless the secret pill is roofies or a pint of bourbon and she's passed out unconscious. I suppose that's the ultimate hypnosis.

That video was so painful to watch. It was obvious that the "Hypnotist" has had a little bit of study and is familiar with how hypnosis is performed but it was obvious that he hasn't spent any time developing his voice, his tone was less than ideal and any trained hypnotist would see that the arm raise was much too quick and lacked the type of movements that unconscious would make. Her breathing is much too shallow for her to be "relaxed". All in all, the woman did a good job of faking it. This guy should go and study Mark Cunningham and David Shade... and possibly IN10SE. Then he'll actually have the skills to create those type of responses for real.

They were more impressed that some scrawny girl can withstand an amount of antipsychotic that would knock down a man of any size and still run around.

I find it interesting that you believe that you can't be hypnotized. Which would mean that you can't go into trance which is a natural state humans use for all sorts of things including:
- Transitioning into Sleep
- Learning
- Deep Focus (While watching a movie or holding a great conversation)

Usually a person thinks they can't be hypnotized for a few reasons.
1. Hypnosis is mind control and only a weak minded foul would be "suggestible".
2. Hypnosis is where you are completely zonked out and can't remember a thing. (Sleep/Zombie like)
3. They have an incorrect definition of what hypnosis is...

Which leads us to the next question, what is Hypnosis?

Suspension of the critical factor and establishment of acceptable selective focus.

So by that definition, anytime you watch a great movie or read a fascinating book you are (1) in trance and (2) hypnotized.

Which means if you CAN'T be hypnotized than you can't enjoy great movies or books... which is sad because there are some amazing books and everyone should enjoy them!

If you were curious about experiencing hypnosis, especially since you have a highly logical thought process and not used to releasing control, you'd want to work with a hypnotist who specializes in working with this type of personality. You'd namely be searching for an Ericksonian Hypnotist with a focus linguistic patterns.

i was at a party once and one of the guests had been a professional entertainer and according to my friends he hypnotised me and had me performing all sorts of acts for their amusement ,i remembered nothing of this and had to be told about it later by the other guests and when i asked him about it he said all he had done was bring out my true nature .
