I am in a intro leval anthropology class in school, and I have a project comming up. I need to track my step-father's kinship, but I have no idea what to ask him. If anyone could help me, that would be great. :D

Love ya :rose:

Ask him if he has an old family bible. Sometimes records were kept in those. You know what kinship means, I take it--genealogy. Who married whom, who begat whom, etc.

Problem with that is the family bible isdown in Brazil, and shipping from there is so slow it'll never get here in time...

Well, you'll just have to interview him then, I guess. Sit him down and ask him if he can remember names of parents, grandparents, etc., as far back along the family tree as he can go.

Or you could just make all the info up.
Hell, it's just a school project.

I *winked*!
Didn't you guys see me wink?
I bet Basia saw me wink...!

I'm a teacher, for god's sakes.
It's against the law and all the existant moral codes and civil guidelines for me to give that kinda advice without winking.
:D

some of my fondest memories are sitting and talking to relatives about ancestors...

My grandmother (my dads mother) is 94 and she helped do her side and my grandfathers side of the families back to almost "the beginning".

My moms side of the family was already done. We have a really neat book that my moms cousin put together.

Search the net for web pages on geneology. Lot's of help out there on how to do it. I did mine before the days of the net.. the "hard way"..but I wouldn't change a thing. It was one of the most fascinating thing I've ever done.

Good Luck :)

How old is too old to be a teacher's pet?

Some of my fondest memories start with somebody a lot like cymbidia winking. ;)

Hey, didn't you see me winking? It's againts all the stupid literotiquette and several lewd guidelines for me to give that kinda shit online without winking... :rose:

Normally I would :D however, this project is worth 75% of my grade... I can't afford to fail another class, if I do, I'll have to leave school >,<

I think I have an idea of what to ask though. Thanks for the grwat advice, cym!

I know this probably doesnt apply in this case but if you wanted to do something in depth with geneology you might what to check and see if there is a Morman geneology library close to you. Its free and they have some fantastic records.

I seem to remember that one can search all the extensive Mormon geneology material on the LDS web site. Might be worth checking.

good luck

Normally I would try that out, and no offence to you, Ragie (if you are Morman), or any Litters who happen to be Morman, but the Morman's scare me... they really do... They attack in swarms and try to force you to repent and... *shutter* don't get me into details...

Still working on my interview questions, but I should be alright, thanks for the help everyone! :D

Love ya,

Basia
