Popular kosher restaurant in Montreal destroyed in apparent arson attack

The problem is that in Canada, there are about 400,00 jews in Canada, and over 2 million Muslims. Liberals will always make decisio0ns based on which voting block they can most afford to lose rather than on principle. Liberals will not risk over 2 million votes just to do the right thing.

Are all the Muslims eligible to vote?

Curious. The police , in your own link, have not ascertained a motive yet, though I do understand the inclination to investigate it as a hate crime. What's interesting is that you assume it's muslims. Nazi's arent crazy about the jewish faith either

This song was released in 1981 by the Canadian group Red Rider. It was written by Tom Cochrane about anti-semetic groups and hate groups in general in CANADA. You Canadians have had that problem for quite a while.

Yeah, we know we've had a problem for a long time with bigots of every variety, but unlike the states ; we dont celebrate them

Sorry to hear this sort of thing is happening. Antisemitism is definitely on the rise everywhere.

My personal opinion (that you never asked for 😁 ) is that this is massively down to the following.

- Israel's behaviour, settlers, Netanyahu, their opinions of Palestinians as subhuman, and now actions that are visibly affecting the rest of the world, has more visibility, finally.

- you are always going to get idiots and racists who blame whole religions and races based on the actions of others, conflating all Jews with the actions of Israel.

- you then have the likes of Netanjahu encouraging that same message

- you also have governments and politicians conflating all jews with Israel too, whilst still beating around the bush RE Israel's questionable behaviour, genocide, their actions, sellings arms to them, AND crying wolf over antisemitism so people are desensitised and sick of hearing it, which is reducing the compassion and solidarity that should happen in the wave of such unpleasantness.

- governments have gotten so sloppy with it, they're accidentally feeding the conspiracy rhetoric and having people question the level of influence Israel must have on the world's politics. Again, idiots and racists, who also happen to recognise Israel's poor behaviour, think Israel = all jews.

- we literally had stabbings a few months ago where some guy let out of a mental asylum too early went and stabbed 3 people; a muslim and two jewish people. The papers and government immediately spun the story as 2 dead in antisemitic attack, completely erasing the other poor guy + any of the context.

- no government is doing enough to tackle the rise in antisemitism, because they are not tackling what the actual issue is. They are just IMO making it worse by letting Israel get away with mass murder and conflating all jews with them.

appreciate given the fact muslims were your go-to in your post and use of the word 'liberals' that you may take issue with what I've said. Not looking to cause conflict. It just seems given the above that the cause of the rise in antisemitism is obvious.

Fair point. In Canada the white power and Nazi groups are limited to a handful of hillbillies who live in their moms basement and are terrified of stepping outside wearing any of their paraphernalia. I personally have witnessed countless acts of Muslims regularly provoking jews on campus when I was a student and I have seen media footage showing middle eastern people blocking campus entrances, Jewish neighborhoods, Jewish hospitals. Sure there's a possibility it was NAZI's and there is an equal probability it was klingons.

Actually I did look for your opinion. I always welcome healthy debate and am open to hearing positions that differ from mine. I may be right, but I recognize the possibility that the person I disagree with might also be right.

The actual issue here is that Canadians are being targeted because they are practicing Jews. What is happening in the middle east has nothing to do with Canadians who are Jewish. If somebody has a problem with Israel, I will disagree with them yet I respect and defend their right to go to the Israeli Embassy in Ottawa (or Consulate in any other city) and protest in accordance with our laws (ie no violence, threats or damage). Targeting Canadians just for being Jewish however is unacceptable. To target Canadian Jews because someone is angry over Israeli actions is no different than people targeting Muslims over the September 11 attacks.

Exactly. I am 100%, with you. This is the issue.
(These) people are morons.

Quick overview folks. The Israeli's are kicking Hamas's ass so they, the Muslims, are painting themselves as the victims. Society has entered a stage of mind set where 'victims' are golden the truth be damned. So in the end it doesn't really matter whether the arsonist was a Muslim, a Muslim sympathizer, or some other nut taking advantage of the narrative. Indirectly the press and the government can strep up and take credit.

From what I keep seeing, it seems like a lot of people on the left are heavily anti-Jewish, call themselves socialists, but they also turn around and call anyone they disagree with 'nazis'.

Very confusing.

What was Marx's religion? Now be confused.

I reject the notion that religion itself or a family's religion claims ownership over an individual's beliefs.
Regardless of your rejection, family history count even if the individual rejects that history.

Marx studied under Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel. Hegel's thesis was that the state was the highest expression of the will of God. Two schools were the result of that thesis, the first being that the State is right AWAYS, no matter what leading to the Nazi's, the second was Marx whose basic philosophy was, "Who needs God?" and we see the results of both of Hegel's school derivatives.

Every government is based on some philosophy. The roots of the US Constitution is grounded in the writings of John Locke.

Family history doesn't dictate one's beliefs. I don't care if my parents are religious or my family history was religious to all known extent. It doesn't dictate my beliefs or whatever belief structure I may associate with.

This has nothing to do with my above point, which is the only point I was making.

I understand, but you have to understand that your thesis is based on your subjective world view. Mine is based on the subjective belief that the groundings learned in the formative years, birth to the age of 7 or so, have an impact on adult decisions, also subjective. So we have to accept that we have a fundamental difference of opinion. I respect your opinion even if I disagree.

And thus the basis of philosophy unfolds. :)

The only point I'm making is that one's family religion and family history does not dictate who they are or what they believe.

If someone comes from a family of Jewish people but they personally do not identify as Jewish, then they're not Jewish. You cannot assert beliefs and positions for other people.

A point I've already acknowledged.
