From the very beginning of Donald Trump’s lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and a smattering of nearly 50 others, it becomes abundantly clear what this is about — and it’s not about winning a legal judgment.



“In the run-up to the 2016 Presidential Election, Hillary Clinton and her cohorts orchestrated an unthinkable plot — one that shocks the conscience and is an affront to this nation’s democracy,” the lawsuit, filed March 24, begins. It soon adds that the alleged plot was “so outrageous, subversive and incendiary that even the events of Watergate pale in comparison.”

In other words: This is a press release.

What the lawsuit lacks in subtlety, though, it more than makes up for in false claims, errors and dubious inferences.

The lawsuit contains a veritable smorgasbord of debunked and conspiratorial assertions about just how the Russia investigation came about. It’s clearly an effort to play into the emerging theories about what special counsel John Durham might be pursuing — i.e., that the Russia probe was not a product of FBI malfeasance, as Trump has long claimed, but rather that it’s something the FBI was duped into pursuing by nefarious Democrats.

But Trump’s legal team can’t shoot straight.

Before it even gets to the opening sentiments quoted above, the lawsuit stumbles through multiple typos. It announces it is suing 10 anonymous people whose names might be “fictious.” (The word is misspelled three more times before the 108-page lawsuit is finished.) The lawsuit also sues “Phillipe Reines” rather than Clinton adviser Philippe Reines. It is at least the fourth lawsuit filed by Trump and his allies which features a misspelling on the very first page.

I'm only pointing out that if you're quick to take away his rights you take away all of our rights at the same time. I really wish he wasn't such a douche and so hated as this could have been our chance to send a message to the crooked Clintons and all crooked politicians.

I fully agree, this and other threads too. Hoping for our country that this is not an accurate sampling of the average Americans thinking. It's a dangerous place to be as a society when you have someone so hated, so vilified that people will accept or give up anything to bandwagon against him without looking deeper into how that affects everything down the line and into the future.

I'm not sure if that'll work. I think people are sick of his antics and narcissism. I am. I wish he wasn't so hard to get behind, I'd love to see a Washington outsider succeed and clear out some of these career politicians that do nothing other than play to their special interest groups. As for 2022 and 2024... God please lets put a stop to this shit show elder abuse experiment.

It's all about ratings and political capital and has worked phenomenally well up until now.

I'd be happy seeing fresh faces involved in 2024, for sure, though Trump was an outsider as well, and can't say I appreciate how that has turned out.
